Homepage Guide:
A shout‑out to Carl McDowell, our 2025 East Central Indiana Hamfest Ham of the Year, for his tireless work. Without him, we'd likely still be looking at plans. During the annual club meeting on December 17, 2025, the club voted to make him a lifetime member.
Also a special shout-out to Dave Wood for not only finding a GREAT deal on the chairs we have in the clubhouse along with all kinds of other really good deals (he's a Facebook Marketplace Wiz!), but being instrumental along with the help Krystal and Kim in securing a grant to help us finish strong. You’re both legends in our book!
🎉 Annual “Christmas” Party Recap – January 4, 2026
We had a fantastic turnout for our annual “Christmas” party on January 4. Many of our regular members attended and several brought guests, making it one of our best gatherings yet. A semi-official count is coming soon.
📅 Meeting Schedule Update
During the party, we held a brief “mini‑meeting” to cover essential business. Because of that, the regular meeting scheduled for January 21 is cancelled here is our next meeting info:
➡️ February 18, 2026 – 6:00 PM
➡️ Clubhouse at the Jay County Fairgrounds
🔐 Clubhouse Access Upgrade
A new electronic door lock is scheduled for installation by January 16. Regular club members who want access will receive their own passcode, allowing entry whenever the clubhouse is not reserved and the fairgrounds are open. This will be a unique and valuable benefit for our active members.
Where? Clubhouse – Jay County Fairgrounds - Starts at 9 AM
Operating Times:
On the air starting Saturday at 2:00 PM
Operating for at least 6 hours
Event ends Sunday at 1:59 PM
(All times Eastern)
Krystal will be preparing breakfast for everyone, and additional food contributions are always welcome.
We’ll have printed rules available. Logging will be done by computer as usual, with paper logs ready as backup.
🎙️ Everyone Can Participate
You do not need to be a licensed amateur radio operator to join the fun. As long as a licensed operator is present, you can get on the air using our club call sign W9JCA. There are no age limits — just come out, learn, and enjoy the experience.
Tone Test Alert - Saturday @ 11:30 A
Net Control: Dave (KB8SCR)
Jay County Simplex Net follows
Net Control: Tony (KD9KPF)
Live Tuesdays @ 7 PM Eastern
🔧 Repeater Status & Net Notes
The 145.210 MHz Pennville repeater remains offline, but with the links to the Randolph County and Fort Recovery, Ohio repeaters, coverage continues to hold up well. The latest update is encouraging — the needed parts have arrived, and installation is planned shortly after the holidays.
The stream below was from January 6, 2026 at 7 PM.
🎯 Check-In Guess Winner
Our check‑ins have been holding strong, and it’s been great hearing the familiar voices who join us each week — whether they’re coming in through EchoLink (node 127019) or tuning in after catching the live stream. No winners on the check-in guess this week, either. Drats...32 checked in. All of 'em checked out. :-)
If you ever have trouble finding the stream, just remember: W9JCA.COM is the place to go. Put a link to it on your cell phone home screen. I usually have the link below updated within about half an hour of the net getting underway but if you notice that the link isn't up and we're still linked to the week before, just make a comment and I can fix it during the net. If you subscribe, you can get notified when our net goes live.
And if you know someone who might enjoy checking in — a friend, a club member, or someone who hasn’t keyed up in a while — feel free to point them our way. The more voices we hear, the stronger the net becomes.
Thanks for being part of it each week, and I hope you had a great holiday season.
