Skywarn Spotter Training

Skywarn Spotter Training

Classes are free and open to the public, but some may require advanced registration.  You do not need to be a resident of the county in which a talk is being held in order to attend.  Each class lasts about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and is led by a National Weather Service meteorologist who will discuss techniques and safety for severe weather spotting.  Once you attend a class, you are an officially trained spotter and can report severe weather to your NWS office.

Below are links to the areas training is being conducted that would be of interest to most of us in Jay and surrounding counties. If you don't see the area in which you're interested in attending classes in Indiana, <CLICK HERE> for a link to training class information.

You can also conduct your training online, if it's more convenient. This includes all of the guides and even a virtual office tour so it's almost like being there.  You can begin your training online by <clicking this link.>
