I placed the ceramic monkey on a white sheet of paper. Using Polycam I scanned the piece and exported as glb file. Then I took the file into blender for modifying.
First thing to do was to remove the paper the monkey was sitting on. I spent most of my time figuring out how close open parts of the mesh and how fill the how hole under the monkey. After a while I found Blenders' 3D printing toolbox which helped me check my mesh and make it manifold. After fixing up the mesh I exported it as an STL file.
