A Rising Tide is a metal rock band known for their unique blend of hard-edged rock and thrash metal. The band was formed in the aftermath of the First Great Collapse in 2026, with each member bringing their own distinct style to the group’s sound. Playing the Detroit - Windsor area.
A Rising Tide came together in the early 2030s when Charisma Spar and Onyx O’Darn joined forces with ‘Snarl’ Tarva and Marvin ‘Manic’ Michane, both previously in a thrash metal band. The group later added a previously successful female rapper named Porsché to their line-up.
The musicians formed the band with the goal of creating a sound that reflected their experiences in the post-collapse world. They began to play together for sustenance, often performing in exchange for food and shelter.
Their musical style is characterized by aggressive guitar riffs, fast-paced drums, and edgy yet harmonious vocals. Their instrumentation features double-kick drums, a double-neck bass guitar, a synthesizer, and a powerful electric guitar. The band’s music draws from multiple sub-genres of metal rock, including thrash metal, hard rock, and post-hardcore.
Due to the difficult circumstances surrounding their formation, A Rising Tide has not produced any albums or professional recordings.
“We Fell” is one of A Rising Tide’s earliest songs and features thought-provoking lyrics that explore themes of societal corruption, environmental degradation, and political indifference.

"Monica Mantra" is an instrumental piece performed by Marvin 'Manic' Michane. The song features a peaceful, cloud-like melody that surrounds metal shards in a blender, creating an effect that is both relaxing and jarring for the listener. This solo piece showcases Manic's rare ability to simulate the sound of two entirely different instruments using a single instrument. According to Manic, the song is a tribute to an ex-girlfriend.

When asked about the band's genre, Spar quipped, "Can you even have a genre of one? 'Tonal Calamity,' let's go with that." In a later interview, Charisma admitted she had just blurted out the first two words that popped into her head and found it completely absurd that the label actually stuck.
Charisma Spar has a trademark ornate chopstick that she waves during performances as if conducting an orchestra. She has never commented on its significance.
Spar: "When I met S[narl], a BabyMetal type collaboration immediately came to mind. [BabyMetal,] Rammstein, Garbage and The Cranberries are huge inspirations for me."
'Snarl' Tarva's baldness and lack of eyebrows is not a stage affectation -- he suffers from alopecia.
Marvin 'Manic' Michane has a rare ability to play both necks of his double-necked guitar simultaneously as different instruments, with independent tempos. This was a major draw for the band.
Onyx has a 'π™' tattooed on her left ankle as well as a barcode on the back of her neck. According to the artist, both symbols represent the corporatization of humanity, and she has commented on their significance in the band's work.
Onyx: "Char was only 14 when we met. She kept telling everyone she was 18. But it was really obviously a lie."
Spar has stated that she is asexual, Marvin is bisexual, and as far as she knows, no members of the group have had a sexual relationship. At the 2038 Detroit Peace Confab, she addressed the public's interest in the band's sex life, requesting that they move on to another topic.
Porsché had a protective compound in Windsor with running water and limited solar power. She was once quoted as saying that she joined the band because she had run out of canned food and didn't like her other options.
Born Nia N'lbis in Jamaica in 1993, Porsché moved to Detroit when she was 3 years old. She has a jet black complexion.
