Drowned Necromancers are terrifying boss monsters; protectors of the ocean!
Drowned Necromancers have a chance to be fished up when using a Heart of the Sea as a Bait item. This uses up the Heart of the Sea (see Fishing Mechanics).
Drowned Necromancers are a bit bigger than Drowneds, and always spawn holding a Trident.
Guaranteed drops:
1 Gold Block
5-7 Gold Ingots
5-7 Emeralds
2 Enchanted Books (see below for information)
Random drops (the mob drops exactly two of these):
1-2 Prismarine Shard
1-2 Prismarine Crystals
1-2 Nautilus Shell
Of the 2 Enchanted Books dropped by this mob, one can have any of the following enchantments on it:
Channeling
Riptide
Loyalty
Impaling
Mending
Luck of the Sea
Lure
The other is guaranteed to have just Necromancy or Aquatic Creation.
Drowned Necromancers will hover in the air above the point they were fished up from, and do attacks in a certain order.
Drowned Necromancers take a 1 damage each time they're hit, no matter how much damage the hit should actually deal. A Drowned Necromancer's health is displayed in the boss bar, which renders for players up to 40 blocks away. If multiple Drowned Necromancers exist, there will be multiple boss bars.
Drowned Necromancers have two stages. If their health is at 50% or lower, they are in the second stage, and begin spawning Oceanic Orbs. These Oceanic Orbs rapidly heal the Drowned Necromancer, but will deal 20 damage to it when destroyed. Only one Oceanic Orb can exist for a Drowned Necromancer at a time.
Drowned Necromancers do not despawn, pick up dropped items, burn in daylight, or spawn with extra armor or items.
Listed in order.
Tridents: The Drowned Necromancer launches 24 Tridents in many directions. These Tridents despawn quickly after they've hit the ground, and might create a Lightning Bolt.
Zap: The Drowned Necromancer targets the position of all players within 40 blocks. Particles will display at these positions, and after 1.5 seconds, a Ligning Bolt will strike there. Keep moving!
Allies: Four mobs (Drowneds or Sunken Drowneds) will launch up from the ground, up to 16 blocks away from the Drowned Necromancer, creating water where they rise from. If the Drowned Necromancer has existed for longer than 8.33 minutes, only one Drowned will spawn. If it has existed for longer than 16.66 minutes, the Drowned Necromancer will use its zap attack instead of this.
Snipe: 5 Tridents will drop on all players within a 40 block radius of the Drowned Necromancer. These Tridents behave the same way as those in the Drowned Necromancer's tridents attack.
Slow: A block of water is created at the position of all players within 40 blocks, and they receive the Slowness II effect for 30 seconds. Bringing Milk Buckets or Ice Cream Buckets might be wise here!
