Drifters are undead hostile mobs that inflict Slowness.
In any location a Zombie would spawn in one of the following biomes, a Drifter spawns instead.
Snowy Plains
Ice Spikes
Frozen Peaks
Jagged Peaks
Snowy Slopes
Frozen Ocean
Deep Frozen Ocean
Grove
Frozen River
Snowy Taiga
Snowy Beach
Drifters have a 2/3 chance of spawning with Leather Boots, either undyed or dyed white. They don't spawn with any extra gear or items.
Guaranteed drops:
0-2 Rotten Flesh (amount boosted by Looting)
0-2 Ice (amount boosted by Looting)
Rare drops (these drops aren't guaranteed, and the mob must be killed by a player or tamed Wolf):
1 Iron Ingot
1 Blue Ice
1 Packed Ice
Rare drop chance is boosted by Looting.
Drifters can drop Mob Souls.
Drifters use melee attacks on nearby players. If you're hit by a Drifter, you get the Slowness III effect for 10 seconds.
Otherwise, Drifters act like Zombies, with the following exceptions:
They cannot pick up dropped items.
They have no baby variant.
They have different voices.
Drifters are affected by the Smite enchantment.
A Drifter giving the cold shoulder.
