They can also be found inside Igloo and Ice Box (in Ancient Cities) Chests.

Frozen Apples are food items, that can be consumed at a normal rate. They can only be eaten if the player is hungry. Frozen Apples provide 1 nutrition (hunger points) and 15.3 saturation. This means they're useful to eat when you're nearly full.
Eating a Frozen Apple gives the Slowness effect for 5 seconds.
