ANUAL REPORT 2019

So, although a few days late, here is my annual sporting report of 2019:

There were 92 swimming sessions (342.72 km in just over 133 hours), 129 bike rides (11948.3 km in 447 hours) and 156 running sessions (2117.55 km in 251 hours).

In total, I completed 396 trainings with 14408.57 km in 858 hours, 51 minutes and 52 seconds.

I competed in 22 competitions (4x swimming, 5x cycling, 7 runs, 3 triathlons, 1 swim run and 2 cross-country skiing races). The shortest competition was the time trial swim in Pucking with 0:19:54, the longest the Quintuple triathlon in Bad Blumau with 108:22:56.

I paid € 1735.64 in starting fees, and I traveled a total of 12484.8 km to the competitions.

In addition to my first Quintuple race, the highlights were the 24-hour run in Heilbronn / Germany, my first ultraman-style triathlon in the Czech Republic and the 600 km cycling brevet with Randonneurs Austria.

Now what's up for 2020? Well, the main goal is Decaman USA in New Orleans in November, which means that I will swim 38 km, cycle 1800 km and run 422 km. I will do preparatory races for this at Ultra Race Italy and at Ultratriathlon Bad Blumau (each of them of double distance) and at Ultra Czech 515 in the Czech Republic.

In addition there is a nice preparation program, including the Nicosia Marathon in Cyprus, again the 24-hour run in Heilbronn, Germany, and several brevets with the Austrian Randonneurs (between 200 and 600 km).

Maybe this year I can also put in practice my “private” competitions, a 24-hour swim in Pleschinger See in Linz and the Traunsee swim crossing.

You can find the complete list of competitions here (there will surely be more):

I'm already looking forward to the new challenges.

Of course, I would also like to say thank you: First of all to all of the people who specifically supported me at the Quintuple Triathlon in Bad Blumau (Miriam, Irene, Orla, Orlinda, Wilfried and Werner), but also to my physiotherapist Werner Kapeller and my massage therapist Franziska Wagner. Special thanks also to my trainer Thomas Doblhammer, who takes care of my old bones, and to all the friends of the ultra-triathlon family. It is always nice to swim, cycle and run our laps together with you!

I wish you and myself a great season and many injury-free kilometers!
