Immunizations

The university will request a record of your immunizations. If you are not sure if you have the required immunizations, we recommend you schedule an appointment with your doctor to inquire about receiving them. If they are not available, you are able to receive the immunizations after your arrival to campus for a fee.

You will need to fill in the immunization history form. Follow the link below to submit the required documentation (which also lists the required immunizations).

If you cannot get immunizations in by the deadline, you may submit them later online or submit them in person when you arrive to campus.

If you have questions about immunizations, please contact McKinley Health Center.

Health Insurance

It is required that you have health insurance. There is a $712 university health insurance fee charged to you student account. You are automatically enrolled; however, you are able to “opt- out” of this insurance. In order to do so, your personal coverage must meet specific requirements. The requirements for this can be found at the link below. Opting out will not be available until the start of the semester. Please make sure that the insurance coverage dates on your personal insurance card are at least a month beyond the last day of finals to ensure that you are covered for the length of the semester.

Health insurance policies in the United States do not pay for all of the expenses resulting from illness or hospitalization. Insurance plans, including the University’s insurance, have deductibles (a specified amount of money you must pay for medical services before your insurance makes payment) and co-payments (the percentage of your medical bill that you must pay after paying the full deductible) that must be paid by the student.

The University of Illinois Student Insurance Office processes claims, verifies coverage, answers questions, and assists students with their health insurance needs. They can be reached at 217-333-0165 or by email at insure@illinois.edu. The Student Insurance Office is located at 1109 S. Lincoln Ave.
