ACADEMIC CULTURE

Illinois has tremendous breadth and depth in academics, with more than 150 undergraduate and more than 100 graduate and professional programs. On the strength of our pre-eminent faculty, many academic programs are ranked among the best in the world. This emphasis on campuswide academic excellence has built Illinois' reputation as one of the nation's premier public universities.

Classroom culture:

The environment in your classroom in the US may be different from what you have experienced at home. US classrooms encourage participation, group work, and may be a little less formal than what you are used to.

Academic Requirements:

Students will carry a load of 12-18 US credit hours or 4-6 courses. Twelve hours is the minimum course load needed for full-time status which is a visa requirement. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. The language of instruction is English.
