POST-Arrival checklist

Post-Arrival Checklist:

  • Check in at ISSS

  • Attend the mandatory orientation

  • Check into housing

  • Collect student ID card at the Illini Union Bookstore

  • Get tuberculosis test at McKinley

  • IF you are opting out of the UIUC insurance, submit the forms

  • Complete Course Registration (if any changes need to be made)

  • Complete sexual assault prevention training (you can do this before you arrive)

ISSS Check-in

It is mandatory that you check in with ISSS as soon as possible after your arrival. The ISSS check-in is a governmental requirement. Students who have not checked in on time might have to return to their home countries. If you are arriving the same day as orientation, you may check-in after orientation. Mandatory Orientation

You must arrive in time to attend the mandatory Incoming Exchange Student orientation. More information regarding orientation will be sent in a separate email (check-in time, location, itinerary).

Reminder: You can arrive to the US up to 30 days prior to the program start date and can stay in the US up to 30 days past the end date of the program. Keep this in mind when booking flights if you would like to travel before/after the semester.

You might see a date for the ISSS orientation. The ISSS orientation is NOT mandatory but we encourage you to attend.

Get your Student ID Card

Obtain your i-card at the ID Center (llini Union Bookstore (1st Floor), 809 S. Wright Street). You will be required to present your University ID number and proof of identity to obtain your i-card.

Tuberculosis Test-Mandatory

All new international students are required to undergo TB screening and have their immunization records reviewed by McKinley Health Center staff. Some students may be required to take the Quantiferon TB Gold test. For more details, review the TB packet that will be given to you after you complete your check-in with ISSS.

Sexual Assault Prevention Training Program

This online training is required to be completed. In order to complete it, you must have claimed your netID.
