SELECTING THE FARES
The factors which are considered when selecting the fares include:

Fare Type

Conditions that accompany the fare

Is called “Fare Selection Criteria”.

SELLING FARE
The unrestricted coach fare.

SHORTEST OPERATED MILEAGE (SOM)
Maximum distance is usually based on 120% of the Shortest Operated Mileage (SOM) between the points concerned.

SIDE TRIP
Travel from and / or to an enroute point of a fare component.

SINGLE OPEN JAW JOURNEY (SOJ)
When a passenger is taking only one surface at the origin or destination, it is called a Single Open Jaw. It is further divided into:-

Original Open Jaw Journey (OOJ)
Turnaround Open Jaw Journey (TOJ)

SOUTH ATLANTIC (SA)
Journey between South Atlantic (Sub Area) and South East Asia (Sub Area) via Atlantic but via point not in area 2 other than Central Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.

Journey can be a direct flight between the South Atlantic (Sub Area) & South East Asia (Sub Area), without stopping in Central Africa, Southern Africa, or the Indian Ocean Islands.
If a passenger wanted to take any via point in Area 2, he is allowed to take that via point in Central Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

SPECIAL DISCOUNTED TICKET
Tickets that offer travel flexibility equivalent to the higher-class fares.

SPECIFIED MCO
An MCO which is issued for specified transportation (by air, sea or land) or for excess baggage.
Specified transportation – MCO

Prepaid ticket advice (PTA)
Excess baggage
Down payment for air transportation
Deposit for additional collection
Taxes
Extra fare
Land arrangements for inclusive tours
Hotel accommodation

SPLIT TICKETING
Issuing two one-way tickets instead of a round-trip ticket, usually for the purpose of obtaining a lower fare.

STANDARD CONDITION (SC)
Standard Condition SC100 - Condition which is attached to industry rules for YY Special Fares.
Standard Condition SC101 -

Condition which is attached to industry rules for YY Normal Fares.

STANDARD CONDITION SC100
Condition which is attached to industry rules for YY special fares.

STANDARD CONDITION SC101
Condition which is attached to industry rules for YY normal fares.

STANDARD TRAFFIC DOCUMENT (STD)
It is the collective name given for neutral tickets, MCO, MPD and agents' refund vouchers.
BSP standard traffic documents do not bear airline identification until after validation.

STOPOVER
When a passenger arrives at an intermediate point and is not scheduled to depart within 24 hours of arrival

A stopover counts as a transfer because there is a change of service on a flight that is not scheduled to depart within 24 hours. Therefore, each stopover uses one of the transfers permitted.
Counting stopover: Only count intermediate stopover points in case of rt/ct; do not count the turnaround point or fare construction points. However, for turnaround open-jaw special fares (OJ), do not count the outward point of arrival or the inward point of departure.

STOPOVER CHARGE
When stopover charges are published in different currencies, quote the fee in the currency of the country of the pricing unit's origin, converted to NUC at the IROE.

STOPOVER FEES
Published in different currencies. Quote the “Stopover Fee” in the currency of the country of origin. Divide the “Stopover Fee” by the “Rate of Exchange” to get the NUC amount.

STOPOVER POINT
Staying in via points for more than 24 hours

Any via point with no “X/” code is stopover point

STOPOVER RULE FOR SPECIAL FARES
Find out how many stopovers are allowed as per the rule. Count all intermediate points with a stop of more than 24 hours as a stopover. Do not include the origin and the destination when counting stopovers.

SURFACE BREAK TPM CHECK (SBTC)
To determine if separate tickets are required for a routing with an international surface sector.
Condition for SBTC check
SBTC is mandatory when the routing has the following conditions:-

Normal fare travel with an international surface sector.
Fare construction based on the calculation of actual flown portion only where the surface sector tpm is not added to the tpm calculation.

When SBTC does not apply:-

Domestic surface sectors
Travel between Canada & USA
For pricing units wholly within Scandanavia
Permissible surface sectors

How to apply the SBTC

Compare the tpm of the first international surface break to the total tpms from the origin of the journey to the start of the surface break.
If there is no tpm published for the surface sector, get its mpm divided by 1.20. However, if there is no mpm, use lowest combination of tpms.
If the tpm of the surface sector is greater than the tpm from the origin to start of the surface break, issue separate tickets.

Manual ticket entry

Void the flight coupon of the surface sector. In the fare calculation box, cross out the portion between surface sector with an "X".

Automated ticket entry
The code "/-" indicates that this portion is a surface sector and that the tpm of such sector has been excluded from the mileage calculation.
Close the gap

Apply the through tare construction method
Where the surface sector is treated as if it were flown.
Divide the TPM of such sector by the rest of the tpms of the fare component.

Close the gap – ticketing entries

Void the flight coupon
Enter a diagonal line (/)in the carrier box of the manual fare calculation area, where the gap is closed.
Enter two obliques (//) in the automated ticket, where the gap is closed.

SURFACE SECTOR
When a passenger is not travelling by air.
A surface sector is also called a surface break or gap in the routing.
Types of surface sectors

Surface break at the turnaround point
Surface break at the point of origin
Surface breaks at both origin and destination points

TELETYPE TICKETING
System to transmit ticketing data to an agent by teletype.

TICKET ON DEPARTURE (TOD)
A procedure by which a travel agent makes special arrangements for a passenger’s ticket to be issued by airline staff at the departure airport.

TICKETED POINT MILEAGE (TPM)
The shortest operated mileage between the ticketed points of the journey.

TICKETED TIME LIMIT
Is the time within which the ticket must be issued.

Journey via both atlantic and pacific ocean.

TRANS ATLANTIC (AT)

Journey between areas 2 & 3 with a non-stop sector between Europe and Japan/Korea.

TRANSFER POINTS
Ticketed via points in between fare construction points.
Transfer Points are further divided into two parts:

Intermediate Stopover Point
Intermediate No Stopover Point

TRANSFER RULE FOR SPECIAL FARES
Find out how many transfers are allowed as per the rule. Include all intermediate points as transfer points, including all stopovers and connecting points. Do not include the origin and the destination when counting transfers.

TRANSITIONAL AUTOMATED TICKET (TAT)
A form of automated ticket, normally issued by airline offices and is a multi-copy carbonised ticket. + paper tickets normally issued by airline offices. It is a multi – copy carbonised ticket with computerized imprints.

TURNAROUND OPEN JAW JOURNEY (TOJ)
When a passenger takes the surface to the destination, it is called a Turnaround Open Jaw Journey (TOJ).

UNACCOMPANIED MINOR (UM)
A minor, who is:-

Below 8 years old
Not accompanied by an adult
Will pay the adult fare.

A minor, who is:-

At least 8 years old but below 12 years of age
Not accompanied by an adult
Will pay the child fare

A child is considered unaccompanied if not escorted by a passenger of at least 12 years of age or over paying the adult fare.
Such minors may be accepted for carriage subject to the following provisions:
The minor must be accompanied to the airport of departure by the mother and / or father or guardian who remains with the child until embarkation.
The minor must be met upon arrival at the airport of destination by a parent or guardian.
TICKETING PROCEDURE

The ticket has confirmed reservations (status: OK) from the beginning to the end of the journey.
In the "Name of the Passenger" box, after entering the name and title, add the code "UM (followed by the age)".

VALIDITY OF SPECIAL FARES
Special Fare validity is expressed in:

Days (Full calendar days, including Sundays and legal holidays)
Months (A period of time from the given date in one month to the corresponding date in a subsequent month)
Year (A period of time from the date of ticket issuance or the date of commencement of travel, as applicable, to the corresponding date in the following year.)

VOID
The act of invalidating a standard traffic document or coupons to prevent further use or acceptance by other carriers.

WITHIN THE MILEAGE
Total distance of the itinerary (TPM) did not exceed the maximum distance (MPM). This situation is considered "within the mileage" which is shown as an “M” in the fare breakdown.
