2. Permanent training.
Over the last few decades, teacher training has acquired greater importance in our society insofar as the ceiling of a country's educational quality lies in the quality of the training of its teachers.
Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of the need for training of education professionals, not only as a right but as an obligation of the teacher and a responsibility of the Education Administrations, as well as the schools. The connection between initial and in-service training is essential, where theory interacts with practice. This stimulates the cooperative work of teachers with the conditions that allow students to achieve basic competencies, thus enhancing the transformative nature of the school.
In our report we concluded that it would be interesting to provide teachers with resources and work strategies through specialised and compulsory courses. From this perspective, the main reason for ongoing teacher training and updating should focus on facilitating teacher training, providing them with strategies, methodologies and tools for the management and pedagogical organisation of their work in order to face the challenges of the education system and adapt teaching to the educational needs of the students. This update should cover, amongst other things: training courses adapted to the needs demanded; different dimensions of diversity; improvement of classroom climate and conflict resolution; digital and linguistic competence or specific competences for management teams and new teachers.
In this section of the guide, we refer to different training courses that could help teachers to provide resources and methodological strategies that promote students' linguistic competence.
