Grasshoppers can jump up to 20 times their body length. In comparison to a human that is like if a person jumped over 2 school buses! In all, there are about 10,000 kinds of grasshoppers. They have six legs (like all insects) and 2 antennas. They also have wings. They use these wings to not only fly, but also jump. There are two catagories that you can put Grasshoppers in. They are long-horned Grasshoppers and short-horned Grasshoppers. Long-horned Grasshoppers "sing" by rubbing their wings together. Short-horns "sing" by rubbing a wing and a leg together. In Summer-Fall females lay 7-30 eggs in the soil.
