American goldfinches feed on mostly seeds and some insects. They will also eat tree matter such as bark and buds. During the months of July and August, American goldfinches nest. Once nested, the female lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs. The eggs hatch after 12-14 days of incubation, done by the female. After those days the eggs hatch. Both parents regurgitate or barf up food into the chicks mouths. Some time after 11 days the chicks leave the nest. To change the subject, global warming is effecting American goldfinches. The warming temperatures are causing wildfires, burning their habitat. Global warming also cause heavy rain that floods their nests.
