Bald eagles eat mainly fish, but also some small animals. Bald eagles mate in November or December and female lays eggs in a nest in February or March. The eggs are dull white with a tan tinge. The eggs are about the size of a tennis ball. Usually one to three eggs are laid. It takes about 35 days before they hatch. When young are fully grown their wingspan is 5.9 7.5 feet. Bald eagles symbolize the freedom of the United States.
