Serena Geroe

Hi All! I am pursuing a major in Engineering Science and a minor in Computer Science. I joined the Moore lab in the fall of 2021 and am generating computational models to understand protein-protein interactions. Specifically, I am generating homology models of engineered fibronectin type III (fn3) variants and analyzing them to understand the role of glycosylation sites in mesothelin (MSLN)–fn3 docking, in collaboration with Margherita Piccardi. I am also exploring multimer models generated by AlphaFold to understand potential configurations of fn3-MSLN docking. I am working with software including the Rosetta suite, PyMOL, JMol, and tools from the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).

Outside of the academics, I'm the president of the Smith College Society of Women Engineers chapter, and I play jazz guitar for the Jazz Smiths. We perform every other Friday afternoon in front of the Campus Center -- see you there!
