Anya Zhao

Hi, I am Anya! I am a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Engineering. I joined in Moore Lab since fall 2021. I am very interested in exploring the therapeutic effect of Fn3 protein for cancers and eventually achieve the goal of protein-drug conjugate. In the future, I hope to keep working on cancer therapy. In summer 2022, I performed binding assay and apoptosis assay for highly binding affinity Fn3 5.3.2 to mesothelin-positive cell lines. Currently, I am working on investigate the pathway that causes apoptosis by using confocal microscopy. I started with the antibody internalization assay. Then I will focus on track the position of Fn3 protein under confocal since in caspase-independent apoptosis, AIF is an important aspect to explore.

Outside the class, I am addicted to music: classic, kpop, jazz etc. I really like singing so I joined a choir 6 years ago and playing the piano. I want to try learning cello and music production before I graduate. Also I love watching concerts, musicals, and traveling around the world. Science and Music are two important parts in my life :)Â
