Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III
15th President of the Philippines • 2010–2016
Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was born on February 8, 1960, in Manila, the only son of former President Corazon Aquino and Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. He grew up in a family dedicated to public service and democracy, which greatly influenced his values and leadership style.
Aquino studied Economics at Ateneo de Manila University and entered public service following his family’s legacy. He was elected President on June 30, 2010, leading the country with a focus on good governance, anti-corruption measures, and economic growth. Known for his calm and principled leadership, he completed a full six-year term and passed away on June 24, 2021. Aquino never married and had no children, dedicating much of his life to public service and continuing the democratic ideals championed by his parents.
