Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy was born on March 22, 1869, in Kawit, Cavite, to Carlos Aguinaldo and Trinidad Famy, and grew up with seven siblings. He studied in public schools, had private tutors, and briefly attended Colegio de San Juan de Letran. Aguinaldo married twice, first to Hilaria del Rosario and later to Maria Agoncillo, and had two children, Carmen and Emilio Jr. He became the first President of the Philippines, serving from 1899 to 1901, and played a key role in the country’s fight for independence.
