• Known as the “Champion of the Masses” and “Defender of Democracy” for his humility, courage, and genuine concern for ordinary Filipinos.

• The first monument built in his honor was unveiled on April 24, 1957 in San Clemente, Tarlac, just 38 days after his death.

• The monument was inaugurated with Executive Secretary Fortunato de Leon representing the Magsaysay family.

• He was also the first Philippine president to visit the municipality of San Clemente, reinforcing his reputation as a leader who stayed close to the people.
