This large plaza at the end of Le Avenue Champs-Élysées, by the gate to Vieille Ville, is home to one the Red Revolution's most iconic figures, Madame Margaery. Seated upon a stage of Boarwood cherry for all to behold, Margaery fills the citizens of Isarn with awe and dread.
In Councils past, Madame Margaery was secured behind the walls of Vieille Ville. On the first anniversary of his Council, Korran Goss announced the construction of La Scène as a new home for Margaery to be with her people, and to allow all to attend her shows.
In order to protect her from any who might wish her harm, the Grey Gardeners have a conspicuous presence, with multiple Gardeners visible from anywhere in the plaza.
This hollowed out web of buildings has been cobbled together to consolidate critical city services. Once just a grain store, the Annex has claimed surrounding buildings as needed, now an entire city block.
The Annex has come to include Isarn's largest prison, the barracks for the Isarn City Guard, and a granary. These functions have all been joined out of staffing necessities rather than any sort of deliberate city planning.
In the past the Bakers' Guild existed to protect bakers from driving the price of bread into the ground. Early in the Revolution, its purpose switched to equitable distribution of flour rations so each baker could make a living. Today, however, the Bakers' Guild is little more than a state-run sweatshop. The Revolutionary Council relocated all the capitol's bakers to the old Baker's Guildhouse, installing massive ovens to industrialize the process. Bakers and their families are forced to live in 'protected housing' near the Annex. Though bakers enjoy the best security in the city, it comes with onerous limitations on their security and agency.
Converted from the old Chelish History Museum, Cayden's Home is Galt's largest orphanage. During the day, the countless orphans of Cayden's Home swarm the city streets. They fight, pick pockets, steal and burgle. Babies and toddlers do receive excellent care, but the persistent violence of the Red Revolution has left too many older children with too few attendants. The Caydogs claim they do their best to support the home, and the work they put into the orphanage is a big part of why the city tolerates them as a group. The work that would be needed to properly care for so many children is not something anyone could hope to accomplish, leaving the alcoholics, no matter how high-functioning they may be, particularly ill-equipped.
This tavern, founded as a speakeasy for dissidents looking to overthrow their Chelish overlords, was dedicated to Talmandor for his contribution to On Government. After Galt declared independence, the bar exploded in popularity, only to wane once more when Jubannich abandoned his country for Andoran.
Today, Isarn’s Parliament Party use the tavern as a place for their supporters to congregate and meet with their representatives. They welcome opposing views, enjoying a good debate, but if they perceive any disrespect, they are quick to let the offender know.
Jean-André Brodeur is an eccentric arms peddler. His shop, The Freedom Smithy, is known for having the cheapest weapons in all of Isarn. His reputation is not just for his affordable wears but his consistent presence at rallies, protests, and executions to which he brings a cart filled with weapons. Though the Isarn City Guard tries to wave him away when tensions are high, by that time he is often surround by numerous armed civilians.
At the beginning of the Rane Council, the Pathfinder Society was expelled from Galt. Though their operations were centered in Woodsedge, the Society maintained a library in Galt's capital for years. When the Grey Gardeners arrived to arrest the librarian, they found her dead, having chosen suicide over damnation within Madame Margaery. The Gardeners scorched the library in a violent conflagration, leaving it as testament to the lengths the Gardeners will go to fulfill their duty.
