The House of Joy is a massive four-story manor, making it the largest in the city. It once belonged to a former noble that fled Isarn early in the Revolution. The Calistrians, already planning revenge on the noble, quickly claimed the estate for themselves. They consecrated the space, making it their temple, considering the seizure of his lavish home a temporary substitute for the revenge on the noble the escaped their grasp. Despite being a temple to Calisitria, there is relatively little prostitution in the temple itself as the size and prominence of La Lumiere Rouge waxed.
The House of Joy enjoys dispensation from the rules surrounding finery, claiming the finery are an important part of their faith. Chairman Goss quarreled with the Court of Bees over the matter, but due to the popularity of the district and the taxes they bring him, he's offered exemptions to the House of Joy as well as call houses with influential clients.
Formerly a popular and accessible opera house in Isarn, the playhouse is now the home of raunchy burlesque shows. Margaery's Playhouse received its name from a performer who mid-performance, launched into a tirade against the then Revolutionary Council. He was dragged directly from the playhouse to meet Madame Margaery at her old home in front of the Monolith. His trial conducted swiftly under Margaery's gaze, he was found guilty, and was executed on the spot.
The Bastion of Freedom was once a barracks for the city guard that was abandoned as the Annex grew. An enterprising madame purchased the barracks, giving it its current name. The spartan barracks motif was kept, becoming the brothel's unique signature and a clever way to circumvent the laws surrounding finery. The Bastion caters to guards and military as well as low ranking public servants.
This dark stone building is notorious even among the seedy activity in La Lumiere Rouge. Their chain-bound criers solicit passerby claiming The Dungeon "will help you find new types of pleasure." It's well known that the brothel specializes in finding pleasure through pain, drawing few, but has dedicated clients that will stay there for hours on end.
The Bleeding Heart Tavern, is a hole-in-the-wall for those having a hard time, even by Isarn's standard's. The tavern's regulars are those with heavy hearts and stiff livers, with stories of woe they try to drink away. Though the bar is not in the best condition, it has a reputation for its friendly and attentive barkeeps that are always willing to listen to plight of their countrymen.
Housed within a former art studio, the ground floor of this high-end brothel evokes imagery of the famous galleries of old Isarn. The higher floors contain spacious rooms for the courtesan-artists, who sell their time to clients. The nature of the combined business has resulted in works far too risqué for modern sensibilities. Like any brothel, there are baser forms of entertainment available in the artists' studios, but only for their most generous patrons.
