What is this project?
The purpose of this project was to explore global technology issues and gain a better understanding of how technology is used and accessed in different parts of the world. My partner and I each researched a different location outside of the United States, looking at topics such as population, demographics, technology usage, and the digital divide. We then compared our research to identify similarities and differences between our locations and worked together to create a PowerPoint presentation that showcased our findings. This project also helped us strengthen our digital literacy skills by using online research tools and collaborating through digital applications.
Locations Chosen:
Our group chose Paris, France and Italy as our research locations.
One interesting fact I learned is that about 91% of people in Paris use the internet, making internet access very common. In contrast, Italy continues to experience a stronger digital divide, particularly between the northern and southern regions and among older adults, who often have lower levels of digital skills and internet use.

This project helped me better understand how technology access and usage can differ around the world based on factors such as geography, age, and economic conditions. I also learned that the digital divide exists in many forms, even in developed countries, and that having access to technology does not always mean everyone has the same opportunities to use it effectively. Living in the United States, it is easy to take for granted how readily available technology and internet access are in our daily lives. This project made me realize that many communities still face barriers such as limited connectivity, lower digital literacy, or unequal access based on where they live or their socioeconomic status. Overall, it gave me a greater appreciation for the technology we have access to and helped me better understand the importance of creating equal opportunities for people around the world to benefit from technology.
