What is this project?
The Emerging Technology project required me to research and present a new or developing technology that has the potential to impact society within the next 5–10 years. The purpose of this project was to explore how emerging technologies are created, how they can transform industries and everyday life, and what benefits, risks, and ethical concerns come with their development. This project also allowed me to practice digital communication skills by creating and presenting a multimedia presentation based on my research.
My Topic and Why I Chose It:
My topic was AI-powered smart glasses, specifically focusing on the benefits and concerns surrounding this emerging technology. I chose this topic because I wanted to understand how a device that seems futuristic could impact different areas of society. I found it interesting that the same technology can be viewed as helpful and life-changing in healthcare settings while also creating concerns about privacy and personal boundaries.
Here's my project if you want to learn more:
One interesting thing I learned was the potential impact AI-powered smart glasses could have in healthcare and accessibility. These glasses can assist individuals by providing hands-free access to information, helping people with visual impairments identify objects and navigate their surroundings, and supporting healthcare professionals by allowing them to access important information while performing tasks. I found it interesting that this technology is not only designed for convenience but also has the potential to improve independence, communication, and quality of life for many people.
Through this project, I learned that emerging technologies often come with both opportunities and challenges. AI-powered smart glasses have the potential to improve healthcare, accessibility, communication, and daily life, but they also introduce concerns about privacy and ethical use. This project helped me understand the importance of looking at technology from multiple perspectives instead of only focusing on its benefits. I learned that successful innovation requires balancing advancement with responsibility and considering how technology affects people and society.
