Let's Reflect on Unit 5: Emerging & Global Technology

Unit 5 brought together the skills and concepts learned throughout the course through two hands-on projects focused on global technology issues and emerging technologies. In the Global Group Project, we explored how different countries and communities use technology while examining issues such as the digital divide and unequal access to technology. We also practiced using cloud-based tools to collaborate and create digital materials with others. The Emerging Technology Presentation allowed us to research new and developing technologies, explore their impact on society, and present our findings using different digital formats. Through these projects, we strengthened our ability to research, collaborate, create presentations, and understand how technology continues to shape the world around us.

Lesson learned:

This unit was one of the most interesting because it allowed me to see both the advancements and inequalities that exist in technology around the world. Through researching global technology issues, I learned how some countries and communities still face challenges accessing reliable technology and internet services, while others are already developing and using advanced emerging technologies. It was eye-opening to compare the digital divide with the rapid growth of new innovations and realize how fortunate we are to have access to many of the technologies we use every day. This unit helped me understand that while technology continues to improve and create new opportunities, it is important to consider the people and communities who may still be left behind.
