Open to all ages and levels of artists, the KCLS Newport Library workshop event is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and reinforce your Madhubani skills by teaching others. To celebrate all of the artists who created the paintings that are hanging in SAAM, we will be having an artist reception and workshop on November 9th from 11-2 pm. This is the same day that SAAM observes Diwali, so there will be a lot of guests on this day. Currently, we are looking for four more people to volunteer on this day. The Indian Consulate has invited us to host a lecture for their India Week celebration! The lecture is on November 13th at Seattle University. We need three volunteers from our art school who have worked on canvas before. Volunteers will be giving a lecture on Madhubani painting and Indian traditional arts and host a hands-on activity as part of the program. This opportunity also is a great way to earn PVSA hours!

Every year, the Gates Foundation in Seattle hosts a community engagement Diwali event featuring different types of arts - both visual and performance. Deepti Designs was invited back this year to host a workshop for this event on November 19th, from 10:30AM to 1:30PM! While it's during school hours, making student participation tricky, we’re welcoming two adult volunteers to join us. We're so thankful to be part of such a prestigious event celebrating culture and creativity!
