Our workshop on April 26th and 27th brought together around 10 participants to explore the traditional Gujarati/Jain artform of Gahuli, also known as Saathiya. Guided by artist H. Jain, attendees learned to create intricate, geometric patterns using rice grains. They started with a simple line, which evolved into symbols like the Swastik and Nandavart.
Since the designs are not permanent, the art form also serves as a practice in mindfulness and detachment. With its focus on precision and symmetry, Saathiya art offers a unique calming experience that we're sure the attendees enjoyed!
