It’s a well-known fact that schools are closed on Sundays. But there are a couple of exceptions to that, one of them being right here at North Creek High School, open every Sunday to Gurukul (a Hindi school)! In fact, at 10 AM on March 23rd, our artists, along with the Gurukul team, were bustling around North Creek, where the event was just getting started.

This event was a “Culture Demo Day”, a special event where different regions of India showcase their culture!

Our school’s part in this Culture Demo Day was displaying the vibrant genre of Madhubani in the form of an Art Walk. Let’s put our hands together for everyone from our school who put in their work for this event! Choreographed by Ms. Srujana Babu, our eight artists, Anika Adusumelli, Rama Panchapagesan, Isha Bimal Parekh, Tanvi Kuttuva, Kaira Mahesh Sharma, Hasini Gopal Rengan, Shriya Shaji, and Dhanya Haritham, participated in the Art Walk, in which they walked to music, proudly displaying their Madhubani artwork. Every student even gave a short speech, sharing the stories and meaning behind their paintings. Ultimately, in the words of Ms. Rama Panchapagesan, “[This event] was a wonderful celebration of creativity, culture, and confidence!”

Our school has participated in the International Children’s Friendship Festival for a few years now, and every year it is a success. This year was no exception! 

Deepti Designs hosted the India table at the ICFF event on April 5th and 6th, and we had many student volunteers show up, ready to share Madhubani with others. Some of the activities they planned included henna designs, paper and lentil rangoli, a book of personalities, as well as mandala ornaments and coasters. 

One of our volunteers stood out from the rest, and we want to give her a shout-out! Aditi Siva was an MC at the main ICFF stage and the mascot! If you didn’t get to go to ICFF, here are some pictures from the event.
