SHEDU FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING
Flat Racing & Steeplechase
Flat racing and steeplechase in shedus took direct inspiration from equestrian disciplines of the same name.
The major differences are only in distances and speeds.
Though modern tracks built specifically for shedu racing do present unique challenges of really sharp turns and more complex track shapes. But this trend only starts to gain traction and thusly the training of cat's did not change much. One will do with a young cat practically the same training routine as they would with young racing horse.
Benefit: Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries and refusals in IFS & other flat racing competitions. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of the flat races in IFS & other flat racing competitions.
Conditions: Tasks completion may take place in any setting that fits your plot. However each of them should be clearly done at some sort of track that is suited for shedu racing. In other words you should be able to see rails, turf of the track and be able to instantly identify the place as some sort of racing facility. (example: Racing through open fields would not work for this section of SFT.)
Story-wise it is common practice to board cats at larger racing training facilities in order for them to get the best training, care and overall experience. Elsevier facility and its larger departments have their own shedu racing tracks and training catteries, open for boarding.
OFFICIAL FLAT RACING & STEEPLE CHASE TASKS:
(3-4 images total)
Getting into starting box
Learning to start off by signal with no box
Learning to run shoulder to shoulder with another cat (or in crowd of other cats)
Getting over one of the typical steeplechase racing course fences with no fear (for steeplechase only)
Official Racing - Know Your Cat :
By completing this part of the prompts you will know your cat’s preferences. If those will match with conditions on the track, your cat will get additional points to the final score (+ 5 points per matching factor)
Each task will require you to create several images. You should create separate images for each prompt and those may not be combined. For example you cannot combine prompts “Preferred direction: CW” & “Preferred track type (turf/sand/dirt)” in one image etc.
The results (which preferences your cat has) you will find out upon submitting your SFT for approval by admin. This information will be recorded in your cat’s LOG.
OFFICAL RACING KYC TASKS:

Test the track: (3 images total)
Different cats prefer different surfaces. See which one is more comfortable for your mount:
Turf
Dirt
Sand
Race direction: (2 images total)
Some cats are “left-handed” and some are “right-handed”. In racing such in-born speciality might affect the way of your cat leaning into turns. In situations where each split of a second matters it might play a significant role.
Clockwise direction (when you look at the cat from inner field of the track they run to the right)
Counter-clockwise direction (when you look at the cat from inner field of the track they run to the left)
Race pace: (3 images total)
Race pace refers to overall conditions of the race that will affect the average speed and style of the run. Weather, tactics of rival cats, all these factors will influence how fast or slow the race will go. Some cats prefer full on speedy runs with dry weather and still air, some are more comfortable with slower pace, even if it is caused by not so good weather. And there are still stoics who can endure terrible conditions better than others.
You might be curious though how visually to depict the difference in paces. Well it is rather simple. For a fast pace draw your cat and the rivals running eager yet easily in good weather conditions, for mild pace make the weather less favorable and cats movements should look less energetic and more tired/energy saving. Heavy pace is an exhausting slow race with cats being determined yet tired, enduring bad weather and poor turf.
Fast (presence of at least two more cats (rivals) in the picture required)
Mild (presence of at least two more cats (rivals) in the picture required)
Heavy (presence of at least two more cats (rivals) in the picture required)
