Items & Companions Overview

ITEMS

Items can be applied directly to a cat, handler, breeding, or show entry! There are various classification of items: cat/handler gear, breeding items, companions, preparation items, show items, street items, and healing items. Items must be applied through the bank systems, either to a cat, handler, or show entry.

As a standard rule, items CAN NOT be used in repeat on a single entity, with a few exceptions. (No x2 helmet on a rider, no x2 fertility flask on a single breeding.) Exceptions to this rule will be stated in that items description (such as x3 Ruby hearts in Febril breedings!).

Cat and Handler Gear + Preparation Items

Cat and handler gear and preparation are just that, items that a cat or handler can use before and during certain shows or events, which can have various beneficial effects (such as improving safety, or raising their score in that show).

Cats and handlers have a certain number of slots available for which to equip gear and preparation items for a specific show, these items are permanent and stay attached to a specific cat or handler, even if ownership is transferred.

Tack sets are cat gear which do not take up preparation item slots. Tack sets can be purchased, or created with tokens and a proper saddlery shop. Tack sets have a level and are specific to a certain discipline, unlike trainer gear, which is not discipline specific.

Show items

Show items are similar to preparation items, but they are applied directly to a show entry instead of a cat itself. These are single time effect items, such as specialized cat foods or wax melters.

These items apply a buff to a singular show entry, for that judging entry, but are not permanent items to be used over multiple shows.

Breeding items

These items are applied directly to breedings and cause desirable (or maybe undesirable!) affects to the offspring. Breeding items are always to be applied to a breeding form BEFORE that form is submitted to the season log. Some of the most common breeding items are:

Fertility flasks: these increase the amount of cubs gained in a litter, or in special litters, give a chance for an extra cub. There are two variations of this item, minor and major.

Wild cards: these increase the chance of rare mutations or desirable traits to show up in cubs!

Gender determinations: Can allow you to choose the gender of a single cub. There are two variations of this item: normal and major.

Extra Queen care: Will increase the stats of the cubs in the litter by a small amount.

Gene Storage: Multiple uses! Most common use, is to breed a female twice in one season. Can also be used to store 'straws' of a cat prior to sterilization. Other uses/details are described in this items link, in detail.

'Fab Feb' Breeding Items

There are specific breeding items EXCLUSIVE to the April breeding season (they are only allowed once outside this season, June 2022). Remember, to read the FULL DESCRIPTIONS for each items in their links, each has a list of special restrictions ;

Drop of specialty:
This item can be applied to a breeding and will allow you to add 5 extra stat points to one of cubs from upcoming litter. Affects ONE cub. ONE drop per litter only.

Ruby heart:
This item can be applied to a breeding and will allow you to control inheriting of dominant allele in a cubs geno from upcoming litter. It allows you to pick a gene from the parents, and ensure it passes. x3 Ruby hearts can be used per litter TOTAL. Please read the item's information as it has a LONG LIST of restrictions and usage tips.

Love letter:
This item can be applied to a breeding and will allow you to cancel out one gene of your choice in a cub from upcoming litter. ONE letter per litter only. Gene must be chosen when letter is applied.

Blueprint of perfection:
This item can be applied to a breeding and will allow you to controll inheriting of one body trait (physical trait) of a cub from upcoming litter. Only ONE blueprint per litter. You can combine this item with any other special Fab Feb items, but with this item, make sure that only 3 items in total are applied to the breeding. (2 ruby hearts + blueprint or one ruby heart, one drop of specialty and blueprint, etc.)

Companions

Companions work as permanent items that do not take up a preparation slot on a cat. Companions can ONLY be applied to cats. Cats may have up to 3 companions (unless they have the Matey trait, then they may have up to 4).

Companions can have multiple uses, and can be applied to any form of activity if they have a valid affect. For example, the Cobra companion adds a Wild Card affect to breedings, while giving bonus points in shows.

Make sure to check the description of the companion to see which usages it may have.

Unique Companions

Unique Companions is an exciting sub-type of the companions class items. They obey the same basic rules of standard companions, yet each unique companion has it's own unique design, import sheet and a whole slew of activities are available for them, including breeding and competing in shows.

Street Items

Street items are those items which are only valid in street events or prompts. Items such as offensive and defensive cards (Punch, Slide, Slick Oil, etc.), Hideout, Getaway, Bribe, all fall under this category of items which cannot be applied to official shows, but are valid for street racers in their respective fields.

Healing Items

Healing items, are items... well... used to heal your shedu and handlers! These can be in the form of single units, or kits, which act as multi-use versions of those single units. Kits are most useful for events where you submit multiple entries to be judged at the same time (Such as IFS).

Healing items are separated into various levels of potency, each used to handle a certain degree of injury with better success. Healing items can be used on injuries that are different from the level, however, may have decreased or increased success rate based on the level of injury in comparison to the item. (Ointment will be unlikely to do any good on a severe injury!)

Other Items

There will be a few 'odd' items which do not seem to fall into these categories, such as event items, lootdrops (like junk or tack tokens), totems/skulls (from Africa Explores), Veterinary care revivals, Lucky charms, etc.

It is best to remember to check the description of any and all items to see their description of usage!

There are quite a few exclusive items which have odd usages that do not fall into the main categories, the best way to discover, is just read and ask. <3
