SHEDU FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING
Classic Dressage & Competitive Dressage
Dressage fundamental training is divided in two large sections.
Completing the first one will make your cat ready for shows in competitive dressage class, while the second one will prove that your cat has mastered the classic dressage movements and is ready to shine in Haute Ecole classes.
Benefit: Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries and refusals in ISDF & other dressage competitions. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of the dressage competitions of ISDF and other dressage shows.
Conditions: Dressage training should take place in some sort of the arena that fits the purpose. It can be outdoors or an indoor arena. Dressage elements should not be taught in an open field without any fences or any other hints of a proper training ground.
IMPORTANT! Completion of Competitive Dressage is required before Classic

OFFICIAL DRESSAGE - KNOW YOUR CAT:
The dressage set of the SFT KYC section is a bit different. There are classic “preference” tests, but also a few tasks that will give bonuses only if you choose to depict certain things in your entry for a show. Such tasks are, for example: natural talents - it determines which movements are easier for your cat. If you will depict those in your entries you will get a small guaranteed bonus to the final score. Such “tasks” bonuses do stack up.
OFFICIAL DRESSAGE - KNOW YOUR CAT TASKS:
Arena preference: (2 images total)
Different cats prefer different atmospheres. Get your cat a run-through of an upcoming dressage test in two different conditions:
Indoor (depict a moment of serious training/repetition in indoor arena) (under saddle)
Outdoor (depict a moment of serious training/repetition in outdoor arena) (under saddle)
Natural talents I: (3 images total)
(+1 point to final score if depicted preferred gait or movement based on it): Each cat is unique and some things come to them naturally while others are in need of hard work on them. See which gait of your cat is the most smooth and balanced naturally.
Walk (must be performed in hands/on a lunge line)
Trot (must be performed in hands/on a lunge line)
Gallop (must be performed in hands/on a lunge line)
Natural talents II: Collected gaits or Extended gaits: (6 images total)
(+2 point to final score if depicted preferred gait or movement based on it.) Some cats are better at extended gaits, some - at collected ones. What is the strong side of your cat?
Collected gaits training sessions: (3 images total)

BONUS TASKS: This section is only available to cats that have completed Teamwork KYC Section:
5. Pas de Deux training: (3 images total)
Depict cats together under saddle walking in tandem with matching leg movements
Show cats being ridden on different sides of an arena while matching each others’ gait
Cats face to face with one another under saddle in arena at a full stop while handlers bow.
IMPORTANT!:
If the level of the competition allows it, Best Skill, Natural Talent I & II can stack up!
For example in G1 shows your cat should be able to perform all movements (except classic dressage moves IF we talk about competitive dressage). And you depict your cat doing Passage.
Then let's pretend that your cat has next preferences:
Passage [C] , Collected trot and Trot, you hit a lucky coin with that cat, as Passage based on collected gait -> Collected trot is based on a trot -> Trot, so your cat will receive 3+2+1 = 6 additional points to the score.
If your cat would have next preferences:
Passage [C] , Extended trot and Trot, you would get 3 for passage, none for extended trot and 1 for trot - total of 4 points.
So if a complex movement has [C] after it, any collected movement (Canter/Trot/Walk) can be added up to the score if it fits the preferences of your cat.
And if a complex movement has [E] after it, any Extended movement (Canter/Trot/Walk) can be added up to the score if it fits the preferences of your cat.
Then you look if your cat`s preferred extended or collected movement actually matches the basic preferred gait. If your cat has a preference for collected or extended canter - you can sum up the bonus for basic gait canter (if that is your cat's preference).
BENEFITS & REQUIREMENTS
These sets of prompts are not mandatory to participate in Shedu events. However, if completed, they will give your cat noticeable benefits:
Each completed set linked to a specific discipline will cancel out the roll for the following hazards of shows in that specific discipline:
Initial roll for buck offs **
Initial roll for falls **
Initial roll for fatal and serious injuries **
Initial roll for refusals **
** Initial roll is the mandatory roll that will take place at an official event. A completed SFT makes sure your team will pass those. However in some competitions or disciplines there are additional rolls for mishaps. SFTs will not protect from those. You will need to acquire special gear and/or make proper choices to avoid those.
