REBECCA BLACKBURN
KILLER KRYSTAL
KILLER KRYSTAL
Good evening everyone, welcome back to another monthly special edition of The Midnight Talk! Our talk show here at the Champion Gazette where we sit down and chat with some of wrestling's biggest names.
To start off the new year, we're giving you a treat with a double feature! Two blondes who could not be any less similar, but have still managed to make things work and are now one of wrestling's cutest couples! People in the crowd, let me introduce you to none other than Rebecca Blackburn, and 'Killer' Krystal Anderson!
Thanks for being here you two. I hope the trip from home wasn't too much of a hassle?
Krystal: Ha! Are you kidding me? Some people here just have to make a pit stop at every gas station they see for snacks and bathroom breaks.
Rebecca: Maybe if someone didn't miss every turn we wouldn't have needed to refill as many times~ I digress though it was an easy drive to here, thank you kindly for having us by the way.
Glad to hear it. So not to pry, even though that’s my job, but everyone knows you two as one of the power couples on the wrestling scene. But what not a lot of people know is how you two got together in the first place. Would you mind setting the record straight for once and for all?
Rebecca: Oh man where to start... I met this chaotic goofball during our time at Crush Time Academy... I was a new transfer and all I saw were posters of this goober plastered all over the walls accepting an open challenge.
I said 'oh what the heck why not' and accepted it. One amazing match later in which I ABSOLUTELY WON! We had developed this cute little rivalry. She would win sometimes, and I would win other times. Eventually it all culminated in this epic and brutal match..there were no winners but I like to think after that night something changed and we developed a bit of feelings for one another.
Krystal: W-well Rebecca, I think you're forgetting, that you didn't win the first match against me, but rather I had to get you medical attention after you broke your arm sweetie~
Whoa, alright I think we need to hear a bit more about this first match. Becca, how'd you break your arm?
Rebecca: Its no secret Krystal is an amazing fighter, even if shes been inactive for a bit. During our first fight she managed to grab me in an armbar. Much to her annoyance, I didn't tap. I did however break my arm in the process and proceeded to trap her in a bow and arrow... she didn't tap either not even after it caused a bit of a fracture in her back heh. We were waaay to stubborn to quit, I guess we both had something to prove~
Krystal: I didn't fracture my back, I was just sore for a few days.
Rebecca: That's definitely not what the nurse told us when she yelled at us for being a couple of idiots~ lighten up love, I think we both won something important at the end no?
And it sounds like that hasn't really changed much to this day. Krystal, you've made quite the name for yourself over the past few years as 'Killer', going the extra mile in your fights and delivering as brutal beat downs as you can at times. Do you still have something to prove?
Krystal: I'm sure there's still some punks out there who think they're tougher than me and I'd be glad to prove them wrong!
Really? Is that why you've both been gone from the wrestling scene for the past few weeks? Are you out there looking for these punks?
Krystal: I was gone due to boredom! It’s no fun when there’s no one strong enough around to give you a fun challenge!
Does that mean that you're just waiting for someone? You plan on returning soon?
Krystal: Maybe if someone actually bothered to challenge me I’d come running back!
Well that's good to hear for all your fans at home. But if that's the case, how have you two been keeping busy these days?
Rebecca: Well recently we decided to open up a cafe of our own called the Lullaby! A cozy spot for everyone, i must admit its been a bit of a challenge but we enjoy challenges! Dont we Krystal?
Krystal: Well, it’s not the challenge I’m used to. But I suppose it proves I can handle any career path!
Right, I actually remember writing an article on that. Tell me, what was the idea behind it? Why specifically a cafe?
Rebecca: Well... it was during one of our sparring matches where we lay down and began thinking of what we wanted for our future, Krystal wanted to go on more trips, I wanted to build something that could be just for our friends, a place they would always feel welcomed regardless of past or alignments, I think slowly but surely were making that dream a reality. As for the cafe itself, I love baking so pastries and such came naturally, maybe one day in the future The Lullaby could expand and evolve much like we have.
Krystal: And it’s a great opportunity for new chumps, Er customers, to learn about us.
Rebecca: You’re quite the popular gal gooby, almost everyone that comes in knows about you for better or worse heh.
That's awesome. I think Soraya told me about the place first and she LOVED your pastries. Might have to go myself one of these days. But, why The Lullaby? What brought about that name?
Rebecca: I think when you recall what a lullaby is, that momentary comfort and reprieve that peace, that’s the feeling I think we’re aiming for…granted we in our infinite wisdom invited some of the most powerful woman around for an evening and within minutes they absolutely began fighting another and nearly wreck the place….at least they tipped well
So the name's ironic?
Rebecca: At least for now, yes. While we aim for that peaceful experience. Our own experience has taught us that some of the most amazing people in the city have flocked over here to deliver their personalized chaos, personally…I think they just really missed Krystal.
Krystal: I call it lullaby because it’s what I sing as I put you to sleep in a submission hold.
Rebecca: Oh please like you’ve ever put me to sleep in wrestling of all things.
Either way, sounds like dinner and a show to me. Rewinding back to something else super quick. Krystal, you said that you ended up taking a break from wrestling out of boredom. But it sounds like the excitement followed you to the cafe. Did something happen between you and some of your old rivals? Do they not do it for you anymore?
Krystal: I think it reached a point where I grew tired of my rivals. They simply didn’t understand my drive to compete and couldn’t keep up! I’ve been waiting for someone to prove me wrong ever since.
You do know that they can probably see and hear this right now. Right Krystal? Are you worried they might come after you for that comment?
Rebecca: Krystal… far from the fact these rivals have absolutely proved you wrong once before. I myself have personally proved you wrong a few dozen times over… these guys are no joke love.
Krystal: First of all the little sparring matches I do with you are simply that, sparring for fun and don’t count! Secondly, these idiots wouldn’t know a good match opportunity if it bit them in the ass! I’m not worried about some jerks who think they’re untouchable.
Rebecca: Krystal I- you know what, I’m sure when and definitely not if those peeps do show up, I’ll personally go on break and you can handle, each and every single one of them and totally not ask for help. Or you can retract your statement and say sorry like a mature and responsible adult.
Well that's a twist!
Krystal: F-fine. Just don’t complain to me if they all want to fight later.
Well, that answers one of my next questions. That being said, since we're on the topic of fights, do either of you have a favorite? Can be yours or the other's fight. Maybe one with both of you?
Rebecca: Well of course Krystal is a bias favorite, never seen a more stubborn yet formidable opponent and one that pushes you to be better. Now aside from her I've had the opportunity to fight some of wrestling most amazing talents, there's Natalia Dominique, much like myself shes also a boxer and wrestler and an amazing one at that. Ooooo! There's also Iria Luna, she goes by The Golden Witch and man was she an awesome opponent, rival, and friend we even switched it up once and did a few rounds of kickboxing once. Word to the wise: never underestimate her or her killer jabs hehe. How about you Krystal? I'm sure someone has left somewhat of an impression on you?
Krystal: My favorite fight is the one I win.
Oh come on Krystal. None of them ever stood out to you?
Krystal: Well...I suppose I always got a kick out of fighting a few people. The Ink Freak known as Ying Tao often butts heads with me, usually helps cure my boredom when I need it. Most of the other punks I square up with can't keep up, but she manages just fine without any issues. It's impressive, really.
Rebecca: That's Krystal's way of saying shes best bud material heh.
Gotcha, those are all pretty formidable opponents too. Ok so usually we end the interview with some rapid fire questions. But since it's you two how about we do that now and then I can ask some fun couples questions? Nothing too invasive I promise.
Rebecca: Bring it!!

K: I suppose a handicap match of sorts where I have to take on 2 people at once, in a cage, No DQ, in a ring full of weapons!
Favorite date spot?
R: Aquarium, Krystal took me there once and it was so awesome and magical, she rented the whole place for the evening too, such a romantic she is~
K: There's a nearby park that Rebecca and I visited on an earlier date. It was simple, but sweet.
A whole aquarium? Didn't know she meant that much to you Krystal. A lot of us need to step up our game it seems, you're setting the bar high. Now I'm curious, who fell for who first?
Rebecca: Hmm...i think we can call this one a draw...you beat her one time and she became obsessed with trying to one up me, even took boxing lessons in secret to give me a solid match, i think she loved me first but i definitely took wrestling a lot more serious to impress her after that match so i dunno, it just kinda happened when it happened~
Krystal: I may have, er...noticed her in the ring first, and hoped that she would approach me for a match. It was a great excuse to get up close and personal.
Sounds like Krystal lost in that regard huh? So would you say that the first fight of yours would have counted as your first date Krystal? Or did that come after?
Krystal: If it was a date, Rebecca wasn't aware at the time.
Rebecca: That is true, i just wanted to see who thought so highly of themselves that they put posters on every inch of the Academy, turns out. She is that good~
Then how did your first date go?
Rebecca: We went out to a nice restaurant in some new clothes from the mall we went to a few hours prior. I thought it was cute and romantic, she really loved her steaks heh.
Shopping and dinner. Sounds pretty romantic. Well, I'm really happy for both of you and wish you both the best when it comes to your relationship. We're sadly cutting it short so we'll have to end the interview there. Anything you'd like to say to the audience before you go?
Krystal: FACE ME COWARDS!
Rebecca: Haha... oh love~ It was a pleasure being here, thank you again for having us you were an amazing host and uh... yeah come to the Lullaby!!! Oh and of course...
ahem
FACE US COWARDS!!!
