Welcome back to yet another monthly episode of your favorite segment: The Midnight Talk! This is Casey Kingsley here to introduce you all to someone new, someone different here beside me tonight. This girl comes to us from a world outside of wrestling. She's still a fighter, a master of judo, but she is so much more. Give it up for Myriam!
Thank you for joining us tonight Myriam, how’s it going?
Good afternoon Casey! I’m doing wonderful.
That's great to hear! So, as I just said, you aren't like the other people we've interviewed here on the Gazette. The wrestling ring isn't really your home base. So tell me, what do you do for a living?
I love to play video games and live streams. It's so much fun to do with the viewers, I also love to garden around my home. I can teach kids to learn martial arts. It's mostly teaching them karate and judo. And in my free time I can also cosplay for any character in different genres.
Wow! So you’re not only a judoka, but you stream, do cosplay, and teach kids judo. How do you make time for all of this?
Hehe I have plenty of time to do all those in separate schedules, after work I go teach kids judo for 2 hours and after that I also stream while cosplay playing any single player games I want to enjoy. I stream for at least 2 hours and on the weekends it’s 3 to make the stream more fun. I did a martial arts stream one time and the viewer was at least 20-30, so I decided to continue doing video games. And cosplay is so fun to take pictures outside in open areas like the lake, arcade, and the beach.
And what made you choose to do all of this? Why learn judo? Why cosplay? Why play video games for a live audience?
Well it was rough for me back then. I was dealing with a dark time in my life and I want to find a new path for myself. I was helped by a kind person who helped me stay at a dojo because I had nowhere else to go. I wasn’t much of a fighter but he teaches me judo and be his assistant for teaching kids judo and karate. For cosplay I always like to be at anime conventions and I love to see people dress up as their favorite character. I got into cosplay when I gave it a shot. My first cosplay was Luong from KOF. I enjoyed playing video games so much I started to make a live stream and play any type of games I enjoy.
Different cosplays that Myriam has done over the years. From Top Left to Bottom Right: Laura Matsuda (SFV), Cynthia (Pokemon Diamond & Pearl), Yor Forger (Spy x Family), Manon (SF6), Lisa (Genshin Impact), Jack-O' Valentine (Guilty Gear)
Sounds like you've had an eventful career path then. You must be proud of how far you've come. Are there any highlights for any of these careers? A cosplay you’re proud of? Maybe some big event online?
Well there is one thing I accomplished, I actually won the biggest fighting game tournament a couple years ago, Street Fighter is what I’m good at
What plans do you have for the future? Will you stay teaching kids to fight? Or is there something more planned?
As much as I want to continue teaching kids, I made a decision for my future. I want to travel the world and take on any martial artist. There could be some strong fighters out there and I’m really excited to challenge any of them.
Time is running short unfortunately, so let’s move on to everyone’s favorite section, the rapid fire questions. Are you ready?
