Hello everyone! Welcome to The Midnight Talk! The show here on The Champion Gazette where we talk with some of wrestling's biggest names.
I'm your host Casey Kingsley, and today's guest is another former name in the industry. A big deal back in the day, she now spends her days in a cushy office and pushing pencils for the next generation.
Everyone please give a round of applause for the woman who single-handedly brought Leviathan Inc. back from the depths of submediocrity: Ms. Scylla!
Well well, good morning Ms. Kingsley- I can’t remember doing one of these in months- but I do feel more liberated getting the chance to stretch my legs somewhere that is not my cramped office. If I may first interject- ‘back in the day’, wow shame on you darling. You make me sound like a fossil- come now you have more wrinkles on your face than me. Only joking, of course, knock on wood for us all to stay youthful.
I must say, I simply LOVE this setup, reminds me of our Reef Report and oh- you even added our signature blue ropes to your table. How quaint, I see where our sponsorship budget is going towards.
Of course, Kallum was actually excited when he first heard that you wanted to sponsor our start up website. We couldn't be any more or any less grateful. That being said, lets get on with the interview shall we? Since we're already on the topic of our sponsorship, I'd like to first congratulate you on your successful run as CEO of the Leviathan brand. What gave you the idea to start it?
Aw why thank you Ms. Kingsley, I’d be lying if my idea in the taking Leviathan in the direction where it is was entirely original. Through my years of being an active competitor I got the opportunity to see how many leagues operate on the indie scene to the major leagues- one thing I’ve noticed many of them lacked. A true investment into their talent. But not in the way many think. Of course, many other companies put top dollar into trying to sway the hottest free agents into their league- everyone does that. But when I mean investment into the talent I say truly invest in talent. Full medical coverage, a state of the art training facility, housing, to pampering accommodations- everything an athlete will need and want to bring the best out of them.
Everything that… I wished we had when… I wrestled. The raising of league standards could’ve done wonders for me and my colleagues but it took Leviathan to set that bar before any real change happened. Even then, Leviathan nearly collapsed during our early years due to our lower viewership and lack of funding. I even took pay cuts to make sure we didn’t have much layoffs, during those first few rough years. But I can say for certain it was worth it.
Well... I must say that I am quite impressed. You had noble goals and did everything you could, even going further beyond what was expected of you, so that the next generation wouldn't have to go through the same hardships we did. I sure wish Leviathan was around when I was still wrestling. But then we wouldn't be having this interview now would we?
Hehe I suppose we wouldn't.
So tell me, why did you decide to go with an aquatic theme for Leviathan? Don't get me wrong it's quite the aesthetic. But with so many high-flying wrestlers out there, you'd think it'd make more sense to go for an avian theme right?
Well, seeing the wrestling landscape of leagues, we saw an opportunity to drum up an unique informal identity that others simply weren't doing to the scale that we are. So we fully embraced it from top to bottom. And for why not purely 'Avian theme' um well... One, thematically we're located closer to the coast so we figured that would be easier to process and... I much like the other board members- don't really care for flying hehe. BUT Ms. Kingsley that stays here alright.
I see, so it was a regional preference. That being said, you mentioned being an active competitor yourself before starting Leviathan. Do you ever miss those days? Would you ever go back into the ring if you ever had the chance? Show the people how we used to do it back then?
Hmmm, I would be lying if I said the prospect of unretiring didn't interest me. I thought about this a lot and I'd say for certain- as of right now, no. I'm perfectly content with my position as Chief Executive Officer of Leviathan. I would only ever consider possibly lacing my boots back up if the board pushes me out or for charity purposes. But I found these outcomes to be unlikely Ms. Kingsley.
I must say Ms. Scylla, that would definitely be match I'd love to see. Funny that you mentioned charity events. As CEO, can you tell us about any upcoming charity events that you and your board are planning? Or any events at all?
Well we do have a few lined up on the docket in the coming months I know that for sure. Wild Wave World, Narwhal Nature Preservation, and others that I will have to check with my secretary but I suggest all viewers to tune into these events. All proceeds will be going to good places. As for what OTHER events we have lined up, I’m sure you’ve been keeping up with Leviathan news- our Excalibur Tournament is on the cusp of starting real soon~
Yes! The Excalibur Tournament. We've been a lot of that recently. Would you be so kind as to remind our readers as to what it is and why it's such an important event right now?
Of course, the Excalibur Tournament will consist of sixteen participants who all have been fighting throughout this year to be ‘worthy’ to be entered into this event. They have been selected by our board through various means, metrics, and what have you. -But I cannot stress enough when I say, this tournament will be forever changing the landscape of Leviathan as we know it. An event that will be redefining the standard of what champions are supposed to be. We will be introducing a few new…prizes to this event. Something that really rewards our stars and our roster as a whole…
Well don't leave us in suspense! What prizes are we looking at? How do you plan to redefine the champion standards?
Well, hm actually Ms. Kingsley- I think showing will be a lot more appropriate than telling wouldn’t it? Oh gentlemen~
Hey careful with the mahogany! That looks heavy!
The Holy Grail Cup!
I must say, you've really outdone yourself this time Scylla. A little gaudy, but I'm sure the champ will love it! Now, onto the rapid fire questions. You ready?
By all means, fire away.

And while we'd usually ask for your dream match here, this time I'll ask something else. Who is your favorite to win the Excalibur Tournament?
Oh, my favorite to win? Hmmm, I can't show favoritism, but if I'd have to choose... Typhoon- Akemi Ikarashi. Now that girl is something special; she's been developing so nicely and nothing short of resilient. Expect her to shock everyone with how she performs in this event.
Interesting~ While I would love to ask you more questions Ms. Scylla, unfortunately that is all the time we had for tonight. Thank you so much for sitting down with me for this interview. Any last words for our audience?
Well certainly! Thank you Ms. Kingsley firstly, you’re going to have a wonderful career in this industry and I can’t wait to have more of these with you in the future. Champion Gazette, I am grateful for this interview being set up. I know this company is going to continue reach more and more uncharted waters in the near future. Lastly thank you all those listening in tonight, and remember to stay tuned to the Excalibur Tournament as we’re at the cusp of it starting! And to wrestlers and future fighting athletes… remember, Join… OR BE DEVOURED!
