Good evening everyone! Welcome back once again to another interview coming to you live on The Midnight Talk! Tonight, we're joined by someone who has made a name for himself against all odds. This warrior of the ring has captured the hearts of all with his good looks, charisma, and gentle heart. He's been all over the world, from Japan, to the United States, and he has shown time and time again that he is worthy of holding LAW's intergender championship title! Everyone at home, am I proud to present to you: The Barbarian Prince! One of Leviathan's Excalibur Tournament contestants! The unofficial LAW Intergender Champion!! Oscar Orelash!!!
Hello, hello! It's so good to be here! Thank you for having me!
Thank you for being here! We know you have to be super busy as of recently, what with that championship and being in the Excalibur tournament. What's it like being at the height of your career right now?
Honestly? I don't know how to put it in words
It feels FANTASTIC that I'm the proud owner of this belt - even if it's not official. The same can be said about being in my first Leviathan event. I can't help but feel proud- and grateful I have such wonderful people in my life who helped me get where I am today. Made me into who I am.
But to say I'm at my height? Hehe... I dunno about that one. If anything, I think I'm just getting started~
We love to hear that kind of talk here, always aiming higher and never backing down! No wonder you've been so popular. Not just with the crowd either! More than once you've gotten close with some of your co-wrestlers. Ulla de Melo, Effie Rook, Jaden Rider, and Katrina Kelley just to name a few. Is there something going on there?
Heh heh heh... I thought that might pop up. Well- as much as I hate to break hearts, the only one I'm deeply involved with is Katrina. We've been dating for a few years now. I'm very happy to have her in my life- and to be her sunshine
Jaden's a very good friend of mine. I helped him out when he was trying to find his way after moving on from a previous company- and We've been buds ever since. With Ulla and Effie... well, simply put- I idolized them when I was getting started in wrestling! Those two are such big inspirations for me- and they're some of my closest friends. I'm blessed to have every one of them in my life.
Top Left: Oscar at the bar with his girlfriend Katrina (left) and friend Moria (right). Top Right: Oscar and Effie hanging out at the arcade for his birthday.
Bottom Left: Oscar helping his friend Jaden figure out his Leviathan contract. Bottom Right: Oscar and Ulla hanging out at the local fair.
Hopefully that sets the record straight for everyone at home! Sounds like you made a whole lot of friends since you started out. But the same can be said about your enemies... Your girlfriend, Katrina, we learned that she was locked in a fridge by one of your old friends is that right?
Yes... it was... a hard day to process for both of us. I did all I could for her before I had to return to Leviathan- and I still keep in touch with her through video calls and the like. I'm happy to say that Katrina's still going strong
She hasn't let what happened slow her down- and not only as she been getting stronger since then, but she and her big sister have been successful as a tag-team since then. They actually have a shot at LAW's tag-team title too!
We're happy to hear that she's since made a recovery. Anything you want to share about the person responsible though? Maybe some words you want to say to them?
I've said my piece to her before. Nothing worth repeating again... but I will say this...
... Remember to be smart when posting on social media, everybody. Don't be like my attacker, who publicity posted about her Dad's illegal activities for everyone to see.
Oh! Well uh, wasn't expecting that response. Moving on, you mentioned that Ulla and Effie were your inspirations when you were first starting out. What was that like? Starting out.
Starting out was... interesting to say the least. I started out in the indies in Toronto- which was... rocky. Thinking back on it- that's on me for trying to get started without too much fighting experience. There was also a time I accidentally set off a fire suppression system during my entrance with the fire breathing trick... that was an expensive day
When I was scouted and placed in LAW's lounge lions- I was surprised to see how... empty the mens dorms were. Apparently I was the second male learner they've ever recruited... and the first one in I think four years? The numbers picked up afterward but yeah- it was an interesting start. Thankfully it didn't take long for a mentor to pick me up and get me some proper experience in, hehe.
So you were breaking the mold from the start! You're the first male champion at LAW - even if it's unofficial - and one of the few male fighters at Leviathan from the start. Not only that, you've been an outlier even in the smaller details! Like your codename for Leviathan, Kossuth. One of the genuine few D&D codenames. How did you come up with it?
Ha ha, well I haven't been in Leviathan from the start. If anything I'm newer there than most. I actually owe it to Ulla that I got in at all. If you're watching, Ulla, thanks again for putting in the good word. You're the best!
Well... I originally chose 'The Barbarian Prince' as my first title because it was also based around dungeons and dragons. I haven't played too far into any games- but I've always enjoyed it. Especially the Barbarian Class. Considering my use of fire in my entrances and my gear, Kossuth seemed like the obvious choice to go- especially since I'm not the only one on the Leviathan roster with a Dungeons and Dragons themed codename.
You seem to have a deep appreciation for your friends Ulla and Effie. What are your thoughts on what's been happening to them? We know Ulla's been going through a rough patch, and Effie might actually have a chance to face against you in the Excalibur Tournament. You have anything to say about that?
Oh I do have plenty to say about that
It's been tough watching Ulla go through a hard time. She's one of the nicest, sweetest people I know and it hurts to see how all the... ahem... incidents happening in Leviathan has been getting to her. Even the attack I suffered- that really got to her...
We've been... helping each other out since then. Supporting one another. She's been amazing with helping me deal with the attack and I try my best to keep her spirits high. Most of my free time is spent with her these days and it's always a ton of fun
As for Effie- I'm THRILLED to hear that she has a shot at this tournament. I've followed her career since she first hit the pros. It's no secret her career was very uphill at the start- but the tenacity and strength she has to keep going and improving... it's inspiring. Heck- Effie is the whole reason I discovered Leviathan in the first place. I remember watching her appear for a promotion match over there when they were still starting up and I got hooked ever since
Ever since she's come back from an arm injury- Effie has been on FIRE. She's given me my first and ONLY ever loss in Leviathan, you know. And yeah- it's true that she might become an obstacle in the tournament. The truth is though, I don't care about that
Effie's worked insanely hard to get to this point in her career. Should she get in the tournament, and if she were to knock me out of it... there'd be no hard feelings from me. She's my friend first and nothing's going to change that! I genuinely want to see her succeed- that's why I've been helping her prepare for that big qualifying match. Besides- I did promise her we'd have a rematch someday. What better place to do so then in the Excalibur tournament? I, personally, love how cinematic that sounds, hehe
I bet they're more than happy to have your support every step of the way.
I'm just as happy to have their support as well
This has all been pretty eye opening Oscar, but it's about time we moved on. Are you ready for the rapid fire questions?
For sure! Fire away, Soraya! I'm ready!
Here we go!
Favorite color
I guess it's obvious- but I like red!
How tall are you?
I'm six foot five and proud of it!
Favorite show/movie
I've always loved the Star Wars: Clone Wars TV show- especially the later seasons
Favorite animal
Quokkas are the CUTEST little guys. I mean c'mon, it's a little guy that smiles all the time. I vibe with that
Favorite wrestling moveĀ
Bearhugs- hands down. It's a move I always was good at- even when I was a learner. It's simple and effective- simple as that. it helps I got the size and strength to really make it work- plus I'm told that I give good hugs in general. Heh heh heh
Favorite food
I have a crippling weakness for fresh baked goods and anything fried so it's hard to name just one... but if I had to choose, I LOVE chicken wings
Dream match!
Dream match? Hard to say since I've fought both Effie and Ulla... rematches DO sound fun- but I'd love to have a match against Katherine Hart of LAW's SWAT Cats. Maybe Chloe Valentine too? If she's cool with it of course. Chloe's the reason I thought of investing in bearhugs as a move after all, hehe
Thank you Oscar. Really, I feel like we've learned a lot about you today and I wish you the best in the Excalibur Tournament. Anything you want to say to the audience before we close out this interview?
Thank you! I appreciate your support. And yes- I do
To those of you watching at home, I encourage you to follow where your passions lead you. Do what makes you happy- and do it with people you love and hold close to your heart. That is the best way to live a life. I know it sounds cheesy but trust me- it has worked wonders for me. You too can live the happiest life you can- you only have to take that first step forward
