Civilian Research, Interplanetary Flying Objects (CRIFO) is a UFO research organization whose goal is to gather and analyze reports of UFO sightings directly from civilians and share them with the public and other researchers. They published a monthly newsletter called ORBIT that circulated sighting reports, investigations, and commentary. CRIFO would also collect and analyze reports of alleged UFO crash retrievals and authored a series of "Status Reports" detailing these accounts, which included claims of recovered alien bodies and spacecraft. The organization had interactions with the U.S. Air Defense Command concerning matters related to unidentified flying objects, giving CRIFO a semi-official role in relaying UFO reports for possible evaluation. CRIFO became inactive and effectively shutdown when its founder/director left the organization to become public relations adviser for NICAP.
