The resolution to start the committee under the direction of the secretary-general was brought up by the Qatari representative to open the second day of the DISEC committee's final session.
After Russia, Ethiopia, Palestine, and China each delivered their GSL, the key questions were directed to Palestine's delegate.
The committee invigilator, Mr. Bidur Lamichhane, who was particularly pleased with the operating committee and was expecting the success to continue, said, "With a new day comes new thoughts, and with new ideas comes new questions."
The main discussion of the day was directed against the Palestinian delegate, who spoke about how arms and weapons are dangerous to humankind. The delegates from the UK, India, Germany, and South Africa interrogated the Palestinian delegate about the export of weapons by their respective countries and the existence of the organization known as Hamas.
“The delegate from Palestine is attempting to show that Hamas is a political organization, while the other delegates opposed to Palestine are attempting to demonstrate that Hamas is a terrorist organization.” Mr. Sanjeev Adhikari, the other committee invigilator said, “The delegates are engaged in a strong debate and disagreement.
With the help of the Russian delegate, the Palestinian delegate was able to respond to the numerous inquiries from the other delegates regarding whether or not Hamas is a terrorist organization.
“The delegates have done a very good job in researching,” the logistics member of the committee said.
