TESMUN 2022; Forever Treasured
-Aryan Thapa (Vice Chair of DISEC)
“With confidence, you have won before you have started.” Skepticism is a driving facet of an ultimate amendment. You are rebellious, you have the authority, and you have the competence to choose words to entice every ear which is listening to your soul. Words are the greatest weapon in this 21st century and you owe that incomprehensible power, you have the right to liberate and remold your words to make others believe in what you believe. The sole reason we are here is to build up an eloquent crowd that will trigger an amendment for the prosperous prospects of the entire world. If you are one of those men who wish to remodel the future of a wholesome planet, amiable welcome to TESMUN 2022!
Model United Nations is one of the prestigious-overwhelmed programs, conducted by The Excelsior Family every year. With new generations arising, new views and opinions on how the students observe the problem, how they tackle the flowing hustle, and how to sharpen up their analytical skills have a drastic change collated to previous ones. And that's the power of the new generation.
I am sure that the future is in the right hands, observing delegates in my committee debate widely on an intolerant topic. As the vice-chair of the DISEC committee, Aryan Thapa publicly claims to you that we dias panel always learns new things every day during the MUN session from every bar-none delegate.
Talking about me, I don't perceive TESMUN as a program, but I prefer to describe this as a platform where delegates of different ethnic groups and different cultures especially having different views and opinions unite together and argue their best while criticizing other ideas, forecasting signposts to support their opinion to the fullest. And the delegate having a legit logic wins the committee. TESMUN is not just about your opinions but it’s composed of how your opinion can satisfy the opinions of others.
Subsequently, there are three main facets that matter in this program. One, your speech of skepticism. You should have the confidentiality that your words don't just pass through ear holes but should leave a deep impression on what they heard. Your voice should fight others, they have the right to criticize and outlaw what others say against you. The second is logic. Logic is something that helps others believe that you are correct. They hold power over how a deep logic could not be cut off by other logic. Third, your eloquent speech. Legit and intelligible speech matters a lot when you reveal your ideas. It is a key factor that affects how your views are forecasted on the floor of the committee.
All in all, I wish every member participating in this program an amicable best of the best luck for the conduction of this prestigious platform. This is a war to end all wars. Load your voices, aim the problems but just hold the trigger to your creative analytical solutions. Because you don't owe any power to change the world now, but you are the rising stars for the upcoming future.
TESMUN 2022; A Journey
-Saksham Adhikari (Chair of LP-2)
“The power of words” Just think how great it can be. Words are stronger than the waves that push you back into the ocean. Words are stronger than the lava that is blazing in a fire. Words are simply the strongest of all.
The Model United Nations is the place where you can endure those powers of words. Hence, The Excelsior School Model United Nations Programme’s sole purpose is to make all of us strong and help in be the best.
Greetings! I stand before all of you as the Chair of Legislative Parliament-II to share my words of wisdom that may someday fly to everyone’s ears to make the world a better place.
As the delegate and as the chair, my border of perspectives has just widened. Let's start with the vision of me as a delegate. The fear, the nervousness, the happiness, the strength, and the confidence; what haven’t I experienced? Being a delegate, I got to know my potential and how I can improve myself. I learned to speak up for myself. The race for the position of “The Best Delegate” has taught me to accept defeat but ensured me a victory next time. The virtual MUN helped to build a better me. What I found in myself the previous year, can be found in the eyes of current delegates too. In all, I as a delegate got a chance to experience the world and its issues just by sitting in one place. The virtual platform created by our school created other doors for my future.
If there is one thing I have learned as a chair, it is to have respect and give respect to everyone and anyone. Inside the committee, we are a family. The delegates’ ideas and the conclusion we come up with are our morals. All the happy moments and the stress along with some pieces of anger gave me an addition to my book of experiences. How to be a judge? How to be a teacher? How to manage your tasks? These were all the questions that almost everyone has. Well! Now, I’ve got an answer for myself. And, all thanks to me as a dais member. If I was a boss, I am a leader now. If I was a student, I am a teacher now. If I was a lawyer, I am a judge now. Everything about me has risen one step further toward my success. But, I am happy to state that I was a learner and I am still a learner.
Hence, the last three weeks of this MUN session have been such an amazing journey for me. Not only this year but since I found out about The Excelsior School Model United Nations, my dreams in MUN have been the best anyone could ever ask for. All the teams have coordinated well for the betterment of this program. This memory will always keep me smiling every time I think of it. It may be one of the fewer things I will share with a big smile on my face even if I am on a deathbed
TESMUN 2022; Something to Cherish
-Pratyush Maharjan (Moderator of LP-2)
The TESMUN-2022 has been a great experience for me as the moderator of the LP-2 committee. From some great debates and enthusiasm to some silences and passiveness, I, the moderator of the LP-2 committee, have experienced it all. Delegates getting pumped for the next day is all I want to see. MUN is a great platform to showcase one’s talent. A platform to actively participate and gain some experience for the days to come.
The saying, “It always seems impossible until it is done” holds. Until and unless one gives their best, one cannot see the grass on the other side. Once you give it your all, you will know the taste of success. Even a small point can make you great. No one is born with exceptional skills, it is the hard work behind the success that makes all the difference. This is something that I have experienced seeing the delegates debating and arguing with each other.
Seeing the delegates participate brought back some memories. I was the delegate of Israel on the WHO committee. Not too active but still brings back memories. The online platform and the current physical platform are completely different. From virtual support, scrolling every answer on the net to scrambling the research works in the table. From taking the friend’s help online in group discussions, from silent zoom meetings to noisy class environments. It surely has changed. But the delegate's interest and passion are something that should not change.
For me, MUN is a great opportunity to express yourself to excel in the future. The school also goes with the saying “Engage, Express, Excel”. The way you engage with others determines how you express yourself and eventually excel. So, to engage yourself, be active, express yourself, be confident and excel, and be the best version of yourself. That is something I have learned so far.
The delegates shouting and disturbing others frustrates me but seeing them following the procedures and actively debating makes me feel good. Makes me feel nostalgic. I hope that this program becomes one of the best memories of my life that I cherish for the days to come.
The tradition of TESMUN must go on…
TESMUN 2022; An experience worth sharing
-Uddeshya Raj Adhikari (Moderator of ECOSOC)
The TES MUN is a co-curricular activity introduced with just one goal, which is to sharpen the speaking, expressing, and management skills of students. I didn't have a great expression of MUN until I became a member of the dias panel itself. For me, MUN was like a burden, especially in grade 9 but there is a story for it. I was an introvert in class, I didn't like to express myself to others. I had a feeling that if I say something wrong I am doomed. Yes! I was like that but MUN changed it completely, from the very day of the selection speech of MUN to the very end of the second practice session.
I learned what it's like to stand in front of a bunch of students and teach them, instruct them and guide them like a teacher. My voice was cracking in the first 10 minutes of entering the committee but in the end, it all worked out great.
When I was in grade 9 I was suffering from Covid-19 while the TES MUN program was being conducted. So, being a part of it at that time for me was in a sense, annoying. Perhaps, this is what many delegates are currently feeling when they are scolded for being passive. I try my best to make all of them feel comfortable because MUN is not a program that was introduced to sharpen the skills of just a handful of students, it was introduced to sharpen the skills of every one of them.
Personal feedback and guidance were the ultimate keys in my opinion as delegates started speaking to the committee. The committee was dead in the first practice session but in the second one, the committee was on fire. Every one of the delegates of ECOSOC spoke in the committee on the first and the second day and they didn't disappoint. Perhaps, the personal feedback and guidance given to them worked out.
In the end, my experience at MUN this year is just indescribable. I can't express it in words. I had so much fun and I feel blessed to be given a golden opportunity by the school to become a member of the dais panel of ECOSOC.
