"Speak with the voices of people who've been silenced"
The culture of the Dais panel wearing traditional outfits to keep the cultural dressing etiquette alive while discussing national and international issues with calmness, and the culture of each delegate being a representative of a certain nation or a person whom they might never even have heard of still with much sense of responsibility to take part in the debate with sheer might. This is the culture of TESMUN.
While I might never have been a part of a physical MUN with things that weren’t in anyone’s control, the pandemic gave hope: an opportunity to shine and an opportunity to express in the form of virtual TESMUN. The unmute button there gave a plethora of fearful and self-doubting delegates to debate with a compassion of gaining experience and knowledge important to life. Those who had the hunger to answer the doubters battling their fears and coming out of their comfort zones today, are amongst the Dais panel out of which your secretary general was once one of them.
So, in the Dais panel lies the heart and the soul of the committee who were once a delegate just like you: confused, shy and in any term an early teen would be referred to. The great power humans have is to make choices even in times of conflict. Here, the conflict is the fear you have within you. The choice maker is you and the choice lies within you. Your Dais made a choice to be in the place they are and now you have it to be in the place you want to be in, and the place couldn’t just be a position in MUN but a place where there is a better version of you than there was yesterday.
To this day, I still consider ending self-doubt the biggest achievement I have ever had; even greater than the post of secretary general. The unmute button I had and the placard you all do are just the mediums that help you to achieve great things. Miracles: I am a big believer in miracles. They do happen once you have the perseverance to strive for excellence ending all self-doubts and fear along the way. Be fearless, be hopeful with the might to speak on the topics world leaders tend to be silent on ending the floccinaucinihilipilification the doubters have on you on the way.
Lastly delegates "Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down."
