The HRC committee started with a bang today after a great GSL was presented by the delegate of Bangladesh.
Delegate of Bangladesh raised a motion for the GSL speech on the topic “Is Capital Punishment coherent?” today on September 7th,the second day of the final session on the occasion of TESMUN.
“Capital Punishment is taking a life.It is taking someone’s life for a crime they commited.”Bangladesh started the GSL speech.
The delegate's questioning started from there. The delegates were energetic as they were able to answer the questions that were thrown at them and questioned back.
“UK has banned Capital Punishment for about 50 years but many people from UK support the death penalty. More than half of the people of UK want the Death penalty back.”Delegate of Pakistan told the delegate of UK after their GSL speech.
Countries like Bangladesh think that it will stop the crime rate from increasing while countries like the USA and Russia think it has the opposite effect. The delegate of UK claimed that because Death penalty harms basic human rights the goverment has banned it.
“But what if a criminal, after getting a life sentence, commits another crime?A second chance isn’t good, ''said the delegate of Syria.
Delegate of Russia replied to Sriya asking whether making them regret what they did and giving them a chance to reflect and giving them a second chance is for good.
”What happens to the victim of the crime?''The delegate of Syria asked.
“The criminal gets a second chance but not the victim,”said the delegate of the USA supported.
While the question answering was happening in the GSL speech, the delegate of Sriya was seen being supportive of India.
“How many victims have gotten justice? How many women have raised their voice? How many women have spoken about the crime committed against them?” India stayed silent, not being able to answer.
Crisis arrived at the end of GSL speech.Today the delegates seemed energetic and more talkative. They were all able to answer the majority of the questions aswell. The speech gathered more visitors than before. The delegates were more impressive compared to previous sessions.
