We are proud to announce the 14th session of TESMUN at our school. TESMUN is a major co-curricular activity that provides our students with a unique opportunity to learn about Nepalese politics, international diplomacy, cross-cultural understanding, and global governance. This is a platform where the young minds communicate, argue and reach a consensus over the national and global issues.
The MUN, simulation of United Nations' organs and their agencies, enhances empathy among the students through talks, negotiations, and discussions on major national and global issues that ultimately promote peace, security and human rights. The discussions under United Nations protocols and procedures foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Further, it develops research and analytical skills, which are lifelong benefits to the participants. Research on history, politics and current issues heightens their knowledge. The research skills help them in sorting a bulk of information into a summarised form that helps them in their academic excellence. Additionally, MUN develops leadership and emphasises the significance of cooperation, forming alliances and building consensus.
Furthermore, the MUN programme enhances global awareness, which is crucial in the present interconnected world. It fosters ethical thinking, urging students to think about the ethical consequences of their choices and behave in a fair, just, and respectful manner. This prepares the students in diverse settings and helps them to become knowledgeable global citizens.
We have designed the MUN programme for various grades. Our eighth graders will mimic the Federal Parliament of Nepal. They play the role of leaders of national political parties. As lawmakers, they learn Nepalese legislative procedures, politics and socioeconomic issues of Nepal. They raise the voice of the people and argue on them and make a consensus which forms a resolution. This process helps them to understand the function of government and be aware of socioeconomic and political issues.
Similarly, ninth graders simulate UN agencies and organs, representing delegates of various countries. They will have a meaningful discussion on global burning issues and find out solution. Discussion in the committee will provide them deeper understanding of contemporary global geopolitics, the relationship between countries and major allies of the world. They research socioeconomic and environmental issues and have better knowledge. This process ultimately helps them to face any kind of challenges in the coming day and makes them a global citizen.
TESMUN provides a wide range of opportunities to the students. Grade 10 and 7 students contribute to the Press, IT and Logistics team. The Press committee plays a crucial role in communication events, publishing articles, and keeping everyone informed, enhancing transparency within the program. The IT committee will be very busy in developing websites, video preparation and sharing digital resources through modern technology. The logistics committee oversees the physical preparation of the programme. They arrange the venue, decorate and beautify the programme aesthetically. Their role behind the scenes is crucial to make the event a success.
The success of TESMUN lies in the cooperation of all the committees and delegates. Hard work of Dais members and other committees, teachers' motivation and support to the students are the essential elements for the success of the programme. Combined effort and collaboration of every member offer a conducive learning environment for the delegates to explore themselves.
Delegates, your involvement is essential to TESMUN. Your involvement is important whether you are experienced or new to the concept. For the new ones, it may appear overwhelming, but the end result is very gratifying. It will challenge you, expand your perspectives, and provide you with valuable skills for the rest of your life. Delegates, your contribution is essential for your personal growth and the expansion of the MUN community.
