Prithu Devkota
It is my utmost honor to welcome you all to the Legislative Parliament-I at this year’s Model United Nations conference held by The Excelsior School. I, Prithu Devkota, the chair of the committee, are absolutely thrilled to learn about your reply on the problems that are currently being faced by Nepal. Throughout our sessions, I encourage you to engage respectfully, research thoroughly, and speak confidently.. You must approach every session with an open mind and a spirit of curiosity.
Being a delegate isn’t just about doing your job but it’s also about having fun and enjoying the time you are spending as a delegate in LP-1. I really encourage everyone to speak up and share what you think with confidence. I will help every delegate equally and try to resolve all the confusion delegates have. I encourage you to research hard and work according to your research stating facts. As Nepal faces conflicts every now and then the crisis in the committee is expected to be resolved by creating unity in the committee. I strongly advise every delegate to participate in solving as every voice counts. Your ideas and recommendations will also assist in effectively running the committee.
Even if you are anxious during a committee meeting, don't hesitate to express yourself. Everyone's contributions are valuable; often, the finest ideas come from those who are just ready to risk something and speak. Everybody starts somewhere, so the dais staff is there to assist you should you ever feel unsure. Everyone's experience with this conference should be new. Whatever the size of your success, seize this chance to develop your self-confidence, experiment with new ideas, and feel happy about it. Push yourself and accept these unusual events to find out what you can do!
You will achieve all the amazing things you are looking forward to. Let us collaborate, encourage each other, and help TESMUN-2025 to be the best it can be.
Akina Ghimire
I, Akina Ghimire, am honored to speak to all of you as the Vice Chair of this Legislative Parliament-I . Over the next 3 sessions, you will act as actual political leaders and representatives from various parties. Just like in a real parliament or international forum, you will engage in discussions, negotiate and collaborate on significant matters. For all of you, this MUN presents an excellent chance to learn how politics operates, how decisions are made, and how people with opposing ideas reach common solutions. You will represent specific individuals from different political parties. This means you need to understand their views, values, and goals. You will speak for them, defend their positions.
You have to investigate and present the opinions of the group or individual given to you. Understanding their party's platform, political ideology, and priorities is essential. Think like they would and question yourself: What would this individual say? What are their top priorities? What solutions would they advocate? It's understandable to want to aggressively defend your position, but it'll also require you to be attentive to others. Respecting other delegates in the committee plays a significant role to make a great resolution . Try to see why another person holds their viewpoint even if you disagree. At times, you may discover that you have more in common than you initially assumed. Model United Nations (MUN) is different from all activities in that it is primarily about collaboration and finding mutual solutions, rather than competitive spirit.
Thank you for your commitment and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing your enthusiasm and voice realized in the coming days. Together, we will succeed in making the Model United Nations conference respectful, fun and productive. Excited to see you all soon and best of luck delegates!
Grishma Shrestha
Hello, everyone. I'm Grishma Shrestha, and I'm glad to be your moderator for Legislative Parliament-1 during this TESMUN session. I believe you all have leadership qualities that you should embrace. Come prepared to defend your points with solid research and facts. Research is essential because it shapes our discussions.
With more than just being a TESMUN events runner, I'd like to be your spokesperson. I can help you express your ideas, debate, share your thoughts and also build your confidence. Especially when one is new to a place, public speaking can be really hard.
Dr. Mardy Grothe expressed it well. He said words have incredible power. They can either energize or depress the morale of people. In MUN, the things you say can not only inspire others but also ignite a very compelling talk. What you say can be the key to a very different debate atmosphere.
TESMUN is a conference that affords not only one but also an opportunity to evolve, acquire more knowledge, and team up with others. It can be a blessing both for your personal and professional growth, exposing you to the depths of your capabilities. I know that it can be scary to talk out, but more often than not, you will end up regretting that you kept quiet. I want to be sure that our group is such that we all feel comfortable respecting each other, thus, being able to share thoughts without the fear of being judged. As your moderator, I really want everyone to get out their thoughts and in doing so, be open and confident in our meetings. We will all get a chance to learn and grow together.
I wish you all the best in this committee.
Sincerely,
Grishma Shrestha
