I, the chair of the United Nations Environment Programme, welcome you all to the TESMUN-2025 and to UNEP with genuine enthusiasm and respect. As your chairperson, I am honoured to be handed this opportunity and privilege to guide this vital platform for every single one of you to collaborate and negotiate solutions that balance today’s environmental crises.
Since its inception in 1972, UNEP has stood its ground as the leading environmental conscience of the United Nations. Here in the TESMUN, you are not simply diplomats, but stewards of the Earth. You are changemakers entrusted with the responsibility to think critically and craft actionable solutions; whether it’s through realistic resolutions, partnerships or multilateral cooperation. Take this as an opportunity to grow and take initiation to solve real-world issues and safeguard our planet for the next generation.
Delegates, I urge you to search through the internet using reliable sources such as scientific publications, reports from well-known environmental groups and information from governmental entities. Represent your designated nations with integrity and purpose, and most importantly, have respect for all. Showcase humanity not just within the committee halls, but in the real world as well. Don’t get divagated during discussions, and please do not use heated debate sessions as an excuse for informality among yourselves. Remember, UNEP isn’t just about identifying problems and throwing accusations, but it's a space to leave a legacy of resilience, cooperation and environmental stewardship. Your contributions can shape solutions that echo beyond this hall.

At UNEP, we are convinced that peace, prosperity, and political stability rest upon environmental sustainability. This is not an era of incremental change. This is the era for transformative decisions, taken in light of science and guided by solidarity. Whether by transforming our food systems, accelerating the transition to clean energy, or supporting local communities, UNEP is committed to making a future possible where people and nature can thrive.
Let us move forward together, not in fear of what is to come, but in the confidence that by cooperating and by being creative, we can build a cleaner, greener, and stronger world.
On behalf of UNEP, I thank you for your continued commitment and partnership.

As your moderator, it is my pleasure to welcome you to TESMUN 2082. I am beyond excited to witness the ideas, energy, and diplomacy you will bring to this year’s committee sessions. This conference is more than just a simulation; it’s an opportunity to voice your nation’s stance, collaborate with others, and contribute to finding sustainable solutions for global environmental issues.
As Delegates, your responsibility is not only to represent your assigned countries but to do so with research, accuracy, and purpose. I encourage you to rely on credible sources, preferably from .org, .gov, or .int domains, and come prepared with facts that reflect your country’s policies. Understanding your allies and blocs will also help you strengthen your negotiation strategies during committee.
Participation is key. Step out of your comfort zone, speak confidently, and listen actively. Every speech, question, and resolution you contribute helps shape a productive and respectful environment for debate. If you ever feel unsure or confused, don’t hesitate to ask questions, we’re here to support one another. Let’s make this session a space for growth, leadership, and collaboration.
