The final session of TESMUN 2025 took place on August 21st 2025 as the students of grade 9 came together to represent different nations with enthusiasm. The delegates in DISEC presented their countries' stances and raised concerns towards the action of other nations as they presented their GSL on the current situation of the NPT (The Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons) and its impact on global security.
The delegate of Iraq (Sophiya Gurung) raised a motion to start the GSL on the topic "Assessing the current situation of the NPT and its impact on global security". Different delegates came forward to present their stances and defences. The delegates of DPRK(Sushant Tamang) and USA(Aakarshi Paudel) were fired with lots of accusations.
The delegate of USA was accused for expanding arms, for modernizing weapons and for spending more that 56 billion dollars on nuclear arms while the delegate of DPRK was blamed by the delegates of Germany (Samman Shrestha), India (Sijan Neupane), Ukraine (Unnat Aryal), USA(Aakarshi Paudel) for not answering UN requests, not providing the requested information ,having double standards and for leaving the treaty to commit 6 successful nuclear threats. The delegate of DPRK claimed nuclear arsenals in the country are for safety but the neighboring countries that surround DPRK do not possess nuclear weapons", the following statement by the delegate of Ukraine (Unnat Aryal) earned him a good point.
After the GSL, The committee moved towards a moderated caucus started by the USA on the topic "Regional nuclear tensions and their impact on NPT" on which a fierce debate arose in the committee. The delegate of the USA first accused China and Russia for withdrawing from the treaty and not supporting global arms control. Likewise, the delegate of Germany (Samman Shrestha) came forward as he accused Pakistan for not joining npt and increasing arsenals. The delegate of Russia also accused the delegate of the USA for having 20 percent more warheads than necessary.
Later, a crisis emerged in Ukraine after a nuclear missile attack on Kyiv, with Russia and Belarus being blamed for the attack. The second crisis revealed that China and Belarus were responsible, while Ukraine and France were ready to start war. Belarus and China denied the accusation, blaming the US and Russia.
Following a new crisis update, it turned out China was being manipulated into the attack. Everyone questioned Belarus while India simultaneously decided to launch a war on Pakistan. After a fierce debate, the nonsignatories of the peace treaty proposed by China,USA ,Ukraine,Russia, France and the signatories decided to prepare two resolutions.
The passed resolution addressed the NPT and its impact on global security acknowledging regional nuclear tensions, challenges nuclear non-proliferation norms, and emphasized the obligations of states under the NPT to prevent nuclear weapons spread, pursue disarmament, and promote peaceful nuclear energy use. The committee encouraged dialogue, called for restraint in modernization, and recommended regional nuclear security forums for cooperation and shared safety standards.
The second day of the final session came to a successful end as fiercely as it had started. The active participation of the delegates and the roars to call for the control on modernization
This way, TES MUN 2025 in DISEC ended successfully with the active participation and the hard work by the students of grade 9.
