Faeries are one of the three magical beings native to Terapersü, and similar to dragons and elves, faeries are immortal and have an inherent ability to use magic. Similar to elves, faeries use the language Arsatena to direct their magical energy. Faeiries live almost exclusively in their Realm called Nefera on an island in the northern part of Terapersü. Though there is also small groups of faeries located within the Silvadrian forest. Faerie society is different from that of humans, elves and dwarves. They do not have a set governmental structure with a monarch. Instead, there are certain faeries that hold higher status depending on their age and knowledge and younger faeries turn to them for guidance. Faeries do not build structures of any kind to live in, and instead live within the trees on their island, carving out homes within their trunks among the treetops.
Like the forest of the elves, the faerie island is protected by their magic and settlements of other races have never stood there. Most of the time, faeries are tiny creatures no larger than a hand. However, they have the ability to make themselves large with magic whenever they wish. When they are in their larger form, however, their wings are not strong enough to lift them into the air. While faeries and elves tend to have a good relationship with one another, faeries tend to be tricksters and liars, causing many elves to have a less than pleasant opinion about them. Faeries where light garments usually made from silk that do not weight them down while flying and faeries do not wear footwear. While faeries can be very pleasant creatures, they are easily offended and have quick tempers.
Unlike elves, faeries mate for life (eternity, should they live so long) when they find their true love. They can have up to two eggs at a time, though they can only do so every three years. Like dragons, faeries age to adulthood very quickly, becoming fully grown within two months of hatching. However, faeries can only lay eggs for the first time five years after their birth, if they have bonded with another faerie by then. Faerie's are very delicate creatures even after they are fully grown and are therefore vulnerable. They use protection spells that are a constant drain to their energy stores, making large amounts of other kinds of magic difficult for them. To help offset this problem, faeries have learned to draw energy from living things that are around them to perform magic such as plants and animals.
