Elves, or drielí as they are known in their own language, are an ancient race that is native to Terapersü. How they were created is unknown, all that is known as that for the thousands of years that this land has existed, so have the elves. Elves rule over the Realm Silvadrian, or Elven Forest in the language of the elves. Silvadrian is an enormous forest in southeast Terapersü and the elves reside in magnificent structures created with their profound magical ability. Elven society is a monarchy in structure, with a current queen who has ruled over them for hundreds of years. Elves do not believe in a higher entity or in life after death. The Silvadrian forest is thick with magnificent trees and is said to hold very mysterious and dangerous animals and vegetation. Humans tend to stay away from it, and usually only those with magical abilities themselves would be able to travel to great elven cities where most elves reside. Elves have a love of filling their homes with beautiful things and are amazing at crafting works of art as they weave magic into their work. Poetry and music are likewise cherished and they play mostly harps, violins, flutes and drums.
Along with their magical abilities, elves are known for their immense wisdom, physical strength, quick reflexes, grace and beauty. Their inhuman abilities include enhanced senses, agility, flexibility, durability, speed, and strength. Elves hardly ever need to sleep, being able to stay awake for several weeks without sleep. They are able to run for several days without stopping for rest or refreshment. Humanoid in appearance, they have noticeably angular features, slanting eyebrows and pointed ears, as well as thin angular faces and chins. They are generally very tall and slender.
Elves are also immortal; they can only be killed through injury or sickness. Their long lives are likely the reason for their immense wisdom, as they are able to remember everything that they learn and many have lived for hundreds or even over a thousand years. Elves are also exceptional fighters, preferring to use spears, bows or swords over any other weapon. They start their training as young children and hone their skills throughout their long lives. Even though they are adept at it and practice almost daily, they are not a violent race. Elves value life above all else and are therefore vegetarian. As they have the ability to reach inside the minds of animals and feel their emotions and will to live, elves do everything they can to avoid killing any other creatures. They have a a affinity with nature, using magic to help the plants and trees within their forest thrive.
Men and women are equal in elven society as they are physically equal. A female elf could easily overpower a male as long as she is older. Men and women can be both warriors and leaders. Men and women work together alongside the rest of elven society to raise the rare elf children, who are beloved by all. Elf children are so rare likely because elves do not practice marriage and tend to instead find themselves in many 'short' relationships of thirty to forty years throughout their lives. Although their sexual involvement may end, elves remain very emotionally attached to the people they have chosen to be with throughout the rest of their lives. Romantic breakups almost never mean emotional breakups.
Relationships between humans or nalosci and elves are extremely rare due to the differences in their culture and species, but also because of their long lives. The life of a human or nalosci seem like no time at all for an immortal. In the extremely rare instance that a child is created from such a union, the child will be sterile, but will have an unusually long life and gain speed, strength and the ability to use magic.
