On September 11th, 2001, a terrorist group (al-Qaeda) hijacked four American planes and crashed two into the World Trade Center in New York City, one into the Pentagon, and one into a field in Pennsylvania. 3,000 people died and this attack on the US lead to changes in global security policies. 

Election day in the United States is when the citizens get the opportunity to vote for who they want to represent them in our government. This is important because these are the people who will make the important decisions in Washington DC. 

Veterans Day is a national Holiday in the US where we get to honor military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This holiday is important because it is important to recognize those who have made big sacrifices for our safety and freedom and ensure that their service is remembered. 

Memorial Day is a U.S. federal holiday honoring military personnel who have died in service, observed on the last Monday of May. It is important because it honors and remembers those who have died serving for the United States.
