As all of the families get here, I will be sitting the front meeting everybody and telling them to help their kid find their desk and have them sit in it. I will have seats in the very back for parents, but the students will be in their seats. I will have some classroom music playing in the background as everybody introduces themselves to each other and gets settled.
I will go through a presentation for the parents as the students work through a coloring page or work sheet quietly. It will have QR codes for joining our Facebook and GroupMe and information about the school year. They will also be given a folder that has all of the papers that they need such as firld trip permission slips, my "syllabus", our class plan, my contact information, and a couple of things to fill out.
At this point I will give the kids (and the parents too) a quick brain break and do a small scavenger hunt in my classroom so the students know how to find things such as the tissues, bathroom pass, pencil sharpener, books, my desk, etc.
After the brain break, I will walk the students and their parents through a presentation about me that will look something like this:
At this point I will answer any questions that they may have and then dismiss them. Everybody will be more than welcome to stay and look around a bit more or talk to me afterwards too!
