Believe it or not, i don’t travel that often. Other than going to Bandung every other month to meet with relatives and my loveliest grandmother, I would often stay in my home city. So, when the opportunity to travel arose, you can bet my family made the most of it. Traveling alone is rare, but traveling to Bali?! You can imagine how much my face lightens up. My mother wanted the whole family to travel one last time before I go to high school. My uncle, who has a villa in Bali, ensures my mother that if we ever come to Bali, we should just borrow his keys to the villa and stay there for the holiday; And so we did. Since this trip is very long, I will only talk about my favourite part, Dolphin hunting.
I am sure you all know what Bali is, It is a beautiful island in Indonesia that has many activities to do. Scuba diving, sea walking, parasailing, bungee jumping, and many more. Bali is known as a place to relieve all of your stress. After experiencing many exams, my mother and father who works 24/7; We needed this. None the less, i am here talking about a unforgettable experience in Bali, i wont bore you with all the back story and other stuff. Lets go straight to the good part shall we?
One day, my family and I decided to try a famous activity in Bali, Dolphin hunting. No we aren’t actually hunting and killing dolphins, we are just finding them and trying to get some beautiful pictures. We set sail in the open sea at 6 in the morning trying to find some dolphins. Spoiler alert, we don’t know why; but there were just not a single dolphin present. We kept sailing for what felt like forever, always finding hope when something lurks above water just to be dissapointed by it being some rubbish. It was horrible, sea sickness was horrible, everything was horrible. Not until one decision made by the boat’s captain to move further from shore. we sailed a good hour or so further into the open sea, and nothing we found absolutely nothing. The fishermen had gaven up since in a few more hours the dolphin would leave this part of the Sea. Hearing that my family decided to just go back home and maybe go for a swim in the villa. We sailed back with all hopes lost, but then the captain screamed
“DOLPHIN SPOTTEDD” we were shocked is it finally a dolphin, will our hope and efforts not go to waste. I stopped breathing for a second with a sound of water splashing infront of me. IT’S A DOLPHIN. it jumped out of the water right infront of my face and i was genuinely happy. My family and I couldnt believe our eyes, a family of dolphins which are right there in the water visable. we called the parent dolphins Willy and Wonka, while the baby named factory. We followed it around and took a couple photos. We went home with victory in our hearts.
Looking back, countless hours in the endless sea with no certainty of finding an animal isnt worth just a couple photos. None the less, spending that amount of time i get to spend with my family is priceless. all though we were mostly sad during the trip, We still had lots of fun. Joking around while laughing with them just felt right. This moment became unforgettable in the family history with everytime my family and I saw even a picture of a dolphin, we will looked at eatchother and laugh about it. I love this moment and would do it again if im able to
